Introduction WARNING: THIS APPARATUS MUST BE EARTHED The CPS250/CPS275 are linear power supplies which, like other linear supplie s, produce DC voltages by rectifyi ng, smoothing and re gulating AC voltage s from the secondary winding s of a mains transfo rmer.
MAINS VOLTAGE SELECTION Special attenti on sh ould be pai d to th e fo llowi ng infor matio n: Do not change the voltage setting without first turning the unit off and unplugging the mains lead. This unit is capa ble of operating over a range of mains voltag es by means of a 4-position mains input fuse c arrier.

Circuit Description The CPS250 and CPS275 power suppli es provide +/ -1 7V at 4 Amps an d 5 .25 Am ps respective ly . Bo th give +5 V at 1 Amp , a nd +48 V at 0. 3 Amp. The PCB is SC3803. THE +/- 17V RAILS. This consists of two ide ntical +17V supplie s connected toge ther to give +/-1 7V.
The constan t-curren t pr otecti on sy stem w orks i n th e stand ard way; w hen an at tempt is made to draw excessi ve current, the out put vol tage is redu ced so that no mor e than a fixed maximum can be drawn.
The +5V Supply. Max current rating 1.0 Amps . This supply is primarily i ntended for powering console internal computer s; it also powe r s the co oling fan. The AC input is fuse d by F4 and fullwave rectified by D9-12, with C36 as the reservoir capacitor.
Servicing SAFETY. These safety note s a re dire c te d to thos e te s ting and repairing this powe r supply. Legal requirements me an that we must not encourage untr ained personnel to take the lid off. Servicing should only be carried out by a competent service engineer.
FAULTFINDING NOTES. +/- 17V RAILS. If one side of the +/ -17V supply is not working, the mut ual shutdown syste m will close down both sid es of the supply.
