2 SL V -ED313 GB 3-065-583-E1 (1) Connecting the VCR 1 Disconnect the aerial cable from your TV and connect it to AERIAL IN on the r ear panel of the VCR. 2 Connect AERIAL OUT of the VCR and the aerial input of your TV using the supplied aerial cable.
3 SL V -ED313 GB 3-065-583-E1 (1) Setting the clock Y ou must set the time and date on the VCR to be able to use the timer recor ding features properly . Before you start… • T urn on the VCR and the TV . • Set the TV to the video channel. 1 Press MENU, then pr ess M / m to move the cursor ( B ) to CLOCK SET and press OK.
4 SL V -ED313 GB 3-065-583-E1 (1) Pr esetting channels First, we recommend that you pr eset the receivable channels in your ar ea using the One T ouch T uning function or AUT O PRESET in the TUNER PRESET menu. Then, if some channels cannot be preset automatically , set them manually .

6 SL V -ED313 GB 3-065-583-E1 (1) Presetting channels manually 1 Press MENU, then pr ess M / m to move the cursor ( B ) to TUNER PRESET and press OK. 2 Press M / m / < / , to move the cursor ( B ) to NORMAL/CA TV , then select NORM. T o pr eset CA TV channels, select CA TV .
7 SL V -ED313 GB 3-065-583-E1 (1) 5 Press , repeatedly until the channel you want is displayed. Pressing < goes back to the previous channels. The channels are scanned in the following order: If you know the number of the channel you want, press the programme number buttons.
8 SL V -ED313 GB 3-065-583-E1 (1) Recor ding TV pr ogrammes 1 T urn on your TV and set it to the video channel. 2 Insert a tape with its safety tab in place. 3 Press PROGRAM +/– to select the pr ogramme position you want to recor d. 4 Press z REC to start r ecording.
9 SL V -ED313 GB 3-065-583-E1 (1) Recor ding TV programmes using the Easy Timer function The Easy T imer function allows you to make a timer recor ding of a programme without turning on your TV . Set the recording timer to r ecord only one programme that will be br oadcast within the next 24 hours using the EASY TIMER knob.

11 SL V -ED313 GB 3-065-583-E1 (1) 123 456 789 0 SP APC CLOCK START SP APC CLOCK START Setting or changing the Easy Clock When “–:– –” is displayed in the display window , the VCR clock has not been set. Y ou need to set the clock using the Easy Clock function before setting the timer .

The VCR enters the timer recor ding setting mode. T o continue the Easy T imer setting, go to step 2 in “Setting the Easy T imer” on page 9.
13 SL V -ED313 GB 3-065-583-E1 (1) T o stop recording T o stop the VCR while recor ding, press x ST OP . T o check or change the timer setting Push EASY TIMER knob repeatedly until the setting you want to check or change flashes. Then re-enter the new setting, if necessary .
14 SL V -ED313 GB 3-065-583-E1 (1) Tips • T o record from a sour ce connected to the LINE-1 IN jacks, press INPUT SELECT or PROG +/– or turn the EASY TIMER knob to display “L” in the display window . • T o record NTSC signals, set the tape speed to SP or EP .
15 SL V -ED313 GB 3-065-583-E1 (1) Setting the timer manually Y ou can preset up to eight pr ogrammes at a time. Before you start… • Check that the VCR clock is set to the correct time. • Insert a tape with its safety tab in place. Make sure the tape is longer than the total recor ding time.
16 SL V -ED313 GB 3-065-583-E1 (1) 3 Press , to confirm the setting. The cursor ( B ) appears at the beginning of the line. T o enter another setting, move the cursor to the next line and repeat step 2. 4 Press OK. 5 Press ?/1 to turn of f the VCR. The t indicator appears in the display window and the VCR stands by for recor ding.

19 SL V -ED313 GB 3-065-583-E1 (1) Editing with another VCR How to connect to recor d on this VCR Tip • Connect LINE-1 IN on this VCR to the line output jacks on the other VCR using a commercially available audio/video cable such as Sony VMC-710HG/720HG (not supplied).
