5 T erms for discs • Title The longest sections of a picture or a music piece on a DVD; a movie, etc., for a picture piece on a video softwar e; or an album, etc., for a music piece on an audio software. Each title is assigned a title number enabling you to locate the title you want.
6 Pr ecautions On safety • Caution – The use of optical instruments with this product will incr ease eye hazard. • Should any solid object or liquid fall into the cabinet, unplug the system and have it checked by qualified personnel befor e operating it any further .
7 Notes on Discs On handling discs • T o keep the disc clean, handle the disc by its edge. Do not touch the surface. • Do not stick paper or tape on the disc. If there is glue (or a similar substance) on the disc, remove the glue completely befor e using the disc.
8 Getting Started This section describes how to hook up the system to the speakers, a TV monitor with audio/video input jacks and other video component. Y ou cannot connect this system to a TV monitor which does not have a video input connector . Be sure to turn of f the power of each component befor e making the connections.

12 Getting Started AM loop antenna Extend the FM lead antenna horizontally. Connecting other components W ith its built-in amplifier , this speaker system can be used to output audio and video signals directly fr om such components as LD players, MD decks, digital satellite receivers, and VCRs.

16 Getting Started Speaker Setup For the best possible surround sound all the speakers other than the subwoofer should be the same distance from the listening position ( A ). However , this system lets you to place the center speaker up to 5 feet closer ( B ) and the r ear speakers up to 15 feet closer ( C ) to the listening position.
17 Getting Started x DIST ANCE You can vary the distance of each speaker as follows. The default adjustments are in the parentheses. • FRONT (8 ft) (front speakers distance) Front speaker distance can be set in 1 foot steps fr om 3 to 15 feet.

24 Playing Discs Understanding the Multi-Channel Surr ound Displays Source sound displays The letters (L, C, R, etc.) indicate the sour ce sound. The boxes around the letters vary to show how the system downmixes the source sound (based on the speaker settings).
25 Playing Discs Customizing Sound Fields By adjusting the surround parameters of the fr ont, r ear and center speakers, you can customize the sound fields to suit your particular listening situations. Once you customize a sound field, the changes are stor ed in memory indefinitely (unless the system is unplugged for about a day).

29 Playing Discs Using the title menu A DVD is divided into long sections of a picture or a music piece called “titles.” When you play a DVD which contains several titles, you can select the title you want using the title menu. 1 Press TITLE on the r emote.
