24 Selecting an Antenna Type The Antenna Type display lets y ou or your professional installer enter which type of Satellite Dish Antenna you use. After you have entered your an tenna type , you ca n use the An tenna L ocatio n pop-up to help aim your antenna 1 Highlight and select “Ant enna Type” from t he Antenna Display.

28 Setting Up Auto Title Insert The Aut o Title In sert featu re lets you di splay info rmation about the program at the beginning of a Timer & Rec event. This is convenient if you wan t a “title” to appear at th e beginning of programs you s chedule or record.
29 Using the On-Screen Displays Performing a System T est The system test checks your Acces s Card, telephone line, and Satell ite Dish Ant enna con nectio ns for pro per oper ation .
30 Setting th e Aspect Ratio The aspect ratio refers to t he proportion o f your TV screen. S ome newer TVs may offer the 16:9 ratio which is simil ar to the p roportio ns o f a movie screen.
31 Using the On-Screen Displays Replacing Y our Access Card Occasion ally your service provi der may se nd you a ne w Access Card. Use this display to set up your new ca rd. See “Inserting the Access Card ” on page 13 for in formati on about ins erting the A ccess Card into t he Digital Satellit e Receiver.
32 Selecting RF or IR Remote Control Reception (SA T -A 55 only) The RF feature allow s you to operate the D igital Satellit e Receiver from outside a ca binet or from ano ther room with in your home. T he RF Antenna mu st be connected to use the RF feature (see p age 12).

35 Using the On-Screen Displays Using the Guides Menu The Gui des Menu help s you find the program you want to wa tch. You can choose to see all stations or just a few. You can also create your own favorite stati on guides for fast access to your favorite sta tions .
36 Using the Alpha List The Alpha List shows program info rmation in the category you select (such as movies, sports, etc.) in alphabetical order. Program information is available f or up to four hours in advance. 1 Press the MENU bu tton, then h ighlight and select GUIDES.
37 Using the On-Screen Displays Using the Pr ogram Guide The Program Guide shows program information for up to three days in advance. You can open the Progr am Guid e using the Main Me nu or by pressing the GUID E butto n.
38 Using the Category Guide The Category Guide shows programs i n the category you select (such as movi es, s ports , etc. ). Pr ogram inf ormat ion is a vailabl e fo r up t o thre e days in advance. You can open the Category Guide using the Main M enu or by pressing the CATEG ORY but ton.
39 Using the On-Screen Displays Using the Station Index The Statio n Index displa ys each sta tion’s log o and cha nnel nu mber in a grid format. Program information is available for the current time only. You can open the Station Index usin g the Main Menu or by pressing the INDEX button .

46 Using the Pr eferences Menu The Preferences Menu lets you change the appearan ce of the on-screen displays, the stations you want to appear in the pr ogram list area, and the ord er in which the sta tions are listed.

You can reduce the number of stations that appear by skipping unwanted stat ions .

You can restrict program viewing by cost, ratin gs, and station. Yo u can also set a lock to prevent the order ing of pay per view programs.
54 Changing the Spend ing Limit The spending lim it pop-up lets yo u limit the am ount you can spend per event on pay per view purchases. 1 Highlight and select “Spending Li mit” from the Locks & Limits edit display (see page 53) . The Spending Limit pop-up appears.

60 Using One Button Timer & Rec You can easily set the timer to view or record programs by selecting future programs directly from program guides. To record a future program use th e VCR Control feature to turn o n your VCR and start recording auto matically .
