29 Using the On-Screen Displa ys Set tin g the As pect Rat i o The aspect ratio refers to the propo rtion of your TV screen. Some newer TVs may offer the 1 6:9 ratio which is si milar to the pr oportio ns o f a movie screen. Most TVs use the stan dard 4:3 ratio.
30 Replacing Y our Access Card Occasion ally your service provider m ay send you a new Access Card. Use this disp lay to set up your new car d. See “Inserti ng the Access C ard” on page 13 for infor mation about i nserting the Access Card into th e Digital Satellite R eceiver.
31 Using the On-Screen Displa ys Selecting RF or IR Remote Control Reception (SA T -A50 only) The RF feature allow s you to operate the Digital Sa tellite Receiver from behind a c abinet or from an other room within your h ome. The RF Antenna mu st be connected to use the RF feature (see page 12).

34 Using the Guides Menu The Guides Menu helps you fin d the program you want to watch. You can choose to see all stations or just a few. Yo u can also create your own favorite station guides for fa st access to your favorite stations.
35 Using the On-Screen Displa ys Using the Alpha List The Alpha List shows prog ram information in the category you select (such a s movies, sp orts, etc. ) in alphabeti cal ord er. Prog ram infor mation is available for up to four hours in advance. 1 Press the MENU butto n, then hi ghlight and select GUIDES.

40 Customizing the Favorit e Stations Guide 1 Highlight and select t he Favori te Title you want to customize. The station lis t appears in the right half of the disp lay. 2 Highlight and select “ Ed it ” . The Edit pop-up appears. 3 Highlight and select “ Ed it Statio ns ” .

44 V iewing Pay Per View Pr ograms Many pro grams are a vailable as p ay per view. By selecting a pay per view program y ou agree to be char ged for that prog ram. Select a pay per view program usin g any of th e methods d escribed in the “ Viewin g Station an d Program Infor mation (GUIDES) ” s ection on pages 34 through 42.

49 Using the On-Screen Displa ys Setting Up Custom Stations The Custo m Stations dis play lets yo u choose w hich stations w ill be skipped in the Program Guide, Ca tegory Guide and Station Index, and when you ch ange chann els using the C H +/– buttons.

53 Using the On-Screen Displa ys Using the Locks & Limits Display The Locks & Limits feature gives you control over access to your Digi tal Satellite Receiver. You can rest rict program viewing by cost, ratings, and station. You can also set a lock to prevent the order ing of pay per view programs.
54 Changing the Spending Limit The spending lim it pop-up lets you lim it the amount yo u can spend per event on pay per view purchases. 1 Highlight and select “ Sp ending Limit ” fr om the Lock s & Limits edit display (see pag e 53). The Spending Limit p op-up appears.
55 Using the On-Screen Displa ys Changing t he Rating Li mit The R ating Limit pop-up lets you limit programs accordin g to the conten t rating. 1 Highlight and select “ Ra ting Li mit ” from the Locks & Limits edit display (see pag e 53). The Rating Limit pop-up appears.
56 Changing the Station Locks Settings The Stations Lo cks feature lets yo u prevent access to specific sta tions. 1 Highlight and select “ St ation Locks ” fr om the Loc ks & Limits edit display (see pag e 53). The Station Locks dis play appears.

60 Using One Button Timer & Rec You can easily set th e timer to view or record programs by selecting future programs directly from prog ram guides. To record a future program use th e VCR Control feature to turn on your VCR and star t recording automatica lly.

An important point after buying a device Sony SAT-A50 (or even before the purchase) is to read its user manual. We should do this for several simple reasons:

When delving into next pages of the user manual, Sony SAT-A50 you will learn all the available features of the product, as well as information on its operation. The information that you get Sony SAT-A50 will certainly help you make a decision on the purchase.
