17 Hookup s and Settings b Not es • Do not connect your TV’s audio output ja cks to the LINE 2 IN (R-AUDIO-L) jacks at the same time. This will cause unwanted noise to com e from your TV’s speakers.
18 Step 5: Pr epari ng the Remote You c an co ntrol the record er u sing t he su ppli ed remote. In sert two R6 (size AA) batteries by matchi ng the 3 and # ends on the batte ries to the markings inside the battery c ompartment. When using t he remote, point it at the r emote senso r on th e re corder .
19 Hookup s and Settings Code n umbers of co ntrollable TVs If more than one code number is listed, try entering the m one at a time until y ou find the one t hat works wit h yo ur TV . The remote pe rforms t he following : To oper ate the TV /DVD but ton (for S CART conne ction s only) The TV/DVD button switches between TV mode and DVD mode.

27 Basic O peration Basic O peration Using the Sy stem Me nu The Syst em Me nu appears w hen you p ress SYSTEM MENU, and provide s entries to the record er’s functi ons. Select a n opti on by pr essing M / m and ENTER. If necess ary, se lect a sub op tion an d press ENT ER.
28 Insert ing an d Forma tting a Disc Whe n you fi rst inse rt a new disc , the rec order will ask you t o format th e disc. F ollow the steps be low to fo rmat the disc . You ca n also re form at a DVD+RW or DVD-RW to create a blank disc. 1 Turn on the TV.

31 Basic O peration To searc h for a specific po int of th e title Select [ Search ] and pr ess ENTER in step 4. Selec t [Time] an d press ENT ER. While watchin g the prev iew, press < / , to select th e start point. Each press moves the point forw ard or back ward on e minute (o r five m inute if you hold ).
32 Check ing th e Play back Inform ation an d Play ing Time You can check th e playba ck inform ation and remaining t ime displaye d on the TV scr een by pre ssing DISP LAY re peat edly . The i tems displaye d differ de pendin g on the disc type or playi ng status.
33 Basic O peration Changi ng th e Name o f a Recor ded Prog ramme ( Title Input) The ti tles re corded on a disc ar e named sequential ly ([Title 1], [Tit le 2], …) by default. You can ren ame titles using the d isplay fo r enter ing char acters , which a lso appe ars for renam ing a di sc or stat ion.
34 • To insert a character, move the cursor to the righ t of th e pos ition where you wa nt to i nsert the ch aract er. Sel ect th e charac ter fr om the character palette and p ress ENTER.

40 Checki ng/Ch angin g/ Cancellin g Timer Settings (Timer Lis t) You can chec k, change, or cancel time r settings using the Timer Lis t menu. The Timer List ca n contain up to 16 time r settings. You can select a ti mer setting a nd modify it before the re cordin g start s.

43 Record ing The recorder a utomatically divides a recordin g (a title) in to chapters by insert ing chapt er marks at 5 or 10-m inute i nterva ls during reco rding. Se lect th e inter val, [5 m inu tes] o r [10 mi nutes] for [A uto Chapter] in the [Video] s etup (page 72) .
