15 Getting started Initial se tup of your CLIÉ™ handhe ld Follo w the pr ocedur e belo w prior to using y our CL IÉ hand held with the car cradle. Step 1: Installing softwa re for the car cradle Before usi ng your CLIÉ™ handhe ld with the c ar cradle, y ou have to install software for the car cradle on y our CLIÉ handheld.
16 1 Quit all applications running in the Windows ® operating system . 2 Insert the s upplied Installation CD-R OM into the C D-ROM drive of your computer. The Installation Launcher window is displa yed. Note If t he CD-ROM is not acti vated au tomati cally, activate the CD- ROM manuall y.

23 Various in-v ehicle mode system s/functions For your safety, when yo ur CLIÉ™ handheld enters in-vehicle mod e, a Warning m essage is displaye d. To cancel the Warning message, ta p the screen or pre ss any butto n on th e wireless card remote comm ander.
24 Normal CLIÉ mode b In-ve hicle mode When your CLIÉ handhel d is moun ted in the ca r cradle , it enters in -vehic le mode. If the car crad le is of f, the CLIÉ handhe ld remai ns in norma l CLIÉ mode. If the current applica tion is not co mpatible with in-veh icle mode.
25 In-vehicl e mode b Normal CLIÉ mode • Wh en your CLIÉ hand held is detach ed from the car cradle, the CLIÉ handheld enters the normal CLIÉ mode . • If the car cradle is turne d off while your CLI É handheld is moun ted in it, the CLIÉ handhel d enters the normal CLIÉ mod e.
26 About Sleep mode If your CLIÉ handheld is turned off durin g in-vehicle mode, it enters in-vehicle sleep mode . To exit in-v ehicle sleep m ode • Switch to in-vehicl e mode: – tur n on your C LIÉ hand held. • Switch to normal CLIÉ mode: – detach your CLIÉ han dheld from the car crad le.
27 About the caution alarm The caution alarm alerts you to not to leave your CLIÉ handheld in the ca r. After 5 seconds the car cradle is t urned off during in-vehicle mode, the c aution alarm sounds and the screen flashe s. To stop the caution a larm, do an y of the fol lowing – Detach y our CLI É handhe ld f rom the ca r cradle.
28 Basi c operati ons Operat ing the tou ch panel During in-v ehicle mo de, it is recom mended t o tap the scr een with your finger. Notes • Do not tap with exce ssive forc e. • Be care ful not to lose or damage t he stylus if you use it in the car.

45 Music Using the Music applicat ion, you can listen to music on the “M emory Stic k” medi a inse rted in your CLIÉ™ h andheld by a c ar audi o. To listen to music, do any of the following. • Using the bu ilt-in F M transmitter (p age 46) – The car cra dle has a built-in FM transmitte r.
