17 Er gonomic Considerations Y ou will be using your notebook computer as a portable dev ice in a v ariety of en vironments. Whenever p ossible, you should attempt to apply the following erg onomic considerations to both st ationary and po rtable en vironments.

Ergon omic Consider ations 19 ❑ The computer uses high-frequenc y radio signals and may cause interference to radio or TV reception. Should this occur , relocate the computer a su itable distance a way from the set. ❑ Use only specif ied peripheral equipment an d interface cables ; otherwise, probl ems ma y re su lt.

Using the D VD-ROM Drive 43 Using the D VD-R OM Drive Y our compu ter comes with a D VD-R OM dri ve, which plays both DVD and CD. T o insert a disc 1 T urn on the computer . 2 Press the Eject b utton to open the D VD-R OM driv e. The tray slides out. 3 Place a CD or D VD on the tray with the lab el side f acing up.

Using the D VD-ROM Drive 45 5 Close the tray by pushing it gently . ✍ Be sure to seat the disc firmly o ver the hub finge rs. If you do n ot seat the disc fi rmly , you could damage your D VD-ROM drive an d you may not be able to ope n the tray .

Using the D VD-ROM Drive 47 Notes on CD a nd D VD media ❑ Do not d rop or bend the d isc. ❑ Do not touch the surf ace of the disc. Fingerprints and dust on the surface of a disc may cause read err ors. Proper care o f the disc is essential to maintain its reliability .

Y ou can use this port to commu nicate with other infrared- equipped de vices with compatible protocols, such as a digital stil l camera or other computers.
