GB 20 Prepari ng the cam era x Removing the lens • If dust or debris gets inside the camera while you are changing the lens and adheres to the surface of the image sensor (the part that converts the light source to a digital signal), it may appear as da rk spots on the image, depending on the shooting environment.

GB 23 Prepari ng the cam era Attaching t he flash When you want to use a flas h during shooting, atta ch the f lash devi ce (suppli ed). Set the powe r switc h of t he came ra to OF F b efore you attac h or r emove the flash. • The power for the flash is provided from the camera.
GB 24 Prepari ng the cam era Setting the d ate and time When you turn on the camera for t he first time, t he scr een t o set da te and time appears. 1 Set the power switch to ON to turn on the camera. GB 25 Prepari ng the cam era • Y ou cannot set the date, time and area by touching the screen. • You cannot superimpose the date on image s on this camera. Using “PlayMemo ries Home” stored on the CD-RO M (supplied), you can save or pr int images with date.

In [Progr am Auto] mod e, you can sh oot after adjustin g various fu nctions, suc h as white balance, ISO, etc.
GB 50 Zooming With the [Zoom] feature of the cam era, you can inc rease the magni fication to a scale gr eater than that of the optical zoom scale of the lens. When using a lens with a power zoom, use the optica l zoom of the lens a nd then t he camera shifts automat ically to the [Zoom] fe ature of the cam era.
GB 51 Using t he re cord ing f uncti ons Selecting the f lash mode • W hen the camera is charging the flash, blinks on the LCD screen. You cannot press the shutter butto n when this icon is blinking. 1 Raise the flash. • The flash is e nabled whe n it is raised, and disa bled when lowered .

GB 54 Using the playb ack function s Viewing images on a TV To view images on th e camera using a TV, an HDMI cable (sold separatel y) and an HD TV equipped with an HDMI co nnector are required. • It is recommended that you use an authorized cable with HDMI logo or a Sony HDMI cable.

GB 82 Troubleshoo ting If you experienc e trouble wit h the camera, try the following solutions. The battery pack cannot be installed. • When you insert the battery pack, use the tip of the battery pack to push the lock lever (page 14) . • You can use an NP-FW50 batt ery pack only.
GB 83 Oth ers The power turns off suddenly. • When the camera or battery pack is t oo hot, the camer a displays a warning message and turns off automatically to protect the camera. • If you do not operate the camera for give n period of time, the camer a turns to power saving mode.
GB 84 Nothing i s displaye d on the LCD sc reen when t he power i s turned on. • I f you do not opera te the camera for given period o f time, the camera turns to power saving mode . To cancel th e power save, operate t he camera, s uch as pressing the shutter button halfway down.
GB 85 Oth ers The fla sh takes too long to r echar ge. • The flash ha s been fired in s uccession i n a short period. When the flash has been fired in succession, the recharging process may take longer than usual to avoid overheating of the flash. The image take n with the flash is too dark.
GB 86 The image i s blurred. • The picture was taken in a dark location without the flash, resulting in camera-shake. The use of a tripod or the flash is r ecommended (page 51). [Hand-held Twiligh t] and [ Anti Mo tion Blur] i n [Sce ne Selec tion] (pag e 45) are also effective in reducing blur.

When turni ng on the camera in a cold location , the LCD scre en may become t emporarily dark. • Do not press against t he LCD screen. Th e mo nitor m ay be discolored and th at ma y cause a malfuncti on.
