4 Quick O verview Basic Hookups and Settings Quick Overvi ew A quick ove rview present ed in this guide will give y ou enough information to start using the recorder. Notes • You c annot conn ect this recorder to a TV that does not have a SC ART (EUR O AV) or vi de o inp ut jack.

6 Step 3: Co nnecting the Video Cords B Connecting to a video inp ut jack Conn ect the yel low plug of the audio /video co rd (sup plied) to the yellow (vide o) jacks. You will enjoy standard quality images. Use the red an d wh ite plugs to co nn ect to the audi o input jack s (page 8) .

8 Step 4: Co nnecting the Audio Cords Connecting to yo ur TV This c onnectio n will us e your TV’s speakers for so und. If you use the SCART (EURO AV) cord in pattern A of “Step 3: Conn ect ing the Vi deo Co rds” (page 5) , you do not have t o connect audio co r ds t o your TV.
9 Step 4: C onnecting the Audio C ords Basic Hookups and Settings Conne cting to an AV amp lifier (receiver) ha ving a Dolby S urround (Pro Logic) de coder and 3 to 6 speakers If your AV amp lifier ( receiv er ) only has L and R audio input jacks , use .
10 Step 5: Co nnecting the Main s Lead Step 5: Conn ecting the Mains Lead Connect the supplied mains lead to the AC IN terminal of th e recorder. Then pl u g the recorder and T V mai ns leads (power cords) into the mains. After you connect t he mains lead , you must wait for a short while b efor e operating the rec ord er.

14 Setting the Clock Advanced Hookups and Settings Setting the Clock You must se t the time and date on th e recorder to use the time r feature s properl y. The Auto Clo ck Set fun ction works on ly if a station in your area is broadc asting a tim e signal.

19 Chang ing/Disab ling the C hannels Advanced Hookups and Settings Chang ing/ Disabling th e Chann els After setting the chann els, you can c hange the programme position s. If any pro gramme po sitions are unu sed or co ntain unwant ed ch annels, you can disable t he m.
20 Changin g/Disabli ng the Ch annels Changing the station names You can change or enter a st ation name (up to 5 characters). The recorder must rece ive channe l information (for instance, SMARTLINK information) for stat ion names to appear automatically .

23 Connect ing to a Sa tellite or Digital Tun er Advanced Hookups and Settings • When yo u record to a VCR fro m this DVD recorder, do not switch the input sourc e to TV by p ressing the T V/DVD button on the remote .
