11 What y ou can do with your VCR The HDV format has about more than 2 times t he horizontal re solution of a standard TV, and providing h igh quality i mages. Being t he HDV format compli ant, your VCR is ready to record /play back cr ystal c lear, high- definit ion im ages.

14 Make sure that the battery pac k is not incl ined and is locked to the V CR securely. 2 Slide the O PEN . lever and open the LCD panel. 3 Set the POW ER switch to OFF (CHG) (The defau lt setting). 4 Connect the AC Adaptor to the DC IN jack on the VCR.

30 b Notes • Disconnect the i.LINK cable before changing [HDV/DV SEL] and [i.LINK CONV] settings. Otherwise, the VCR may not recognize the video signal f rom the connected device. • This VCR has a 4-pin i.LINK terminal. S elect a cable th at fits the terminal on the de vice to be connec ted.

32 • When you record the pi cture from a tape recorded in the HDV and DV formats by setting [HDV/DV SEL] to [AUTO], the picture and sound are temporarily i nterrupted when the signal switches between the HDV and DV format s.

40 Recording format The dubbed format (HDV/DV) differs depending on the recorded picture or th e format supported by the VCR, DVD/HDD recorder. See the table below for selecting the appropriate settings, and perfo rm necessary menu set ting.

68 You cannot delete the recorded pictur e on the tape . • You canno t delete the re corded pic ture on the tape. You can only rewi nd the tape and record ag ain. T he new recordin g overwrites the ex isting one. You cannot delete any or all still images at on ce stored on the “Memory Stick Duo” media.
69 Troubles hooting The picture or sound breaks off. • The tape was reco rded i n both of the HDV and DV formats. This is n ot a malfunc tion. The movies freeze for a while, or the sound breaks off. • This occurs if the tape or video head is dirty (p.
70 You cannot view the picture on the TV connected with the i.LINK cable. • You cannot view t he pict ure in t he HD (high def inition) quality on the TV, if an i.LI NK jack of the TV is not compatible with the HDV1080i specif icati on ( p. 24).
