29 Basic Op erations b Not es • Disconnect the i.LINK cable before changing [HDV/DV SEL] and [i.LINK CONV] settings. Otherwise, the VCR may n ot recognize the video signal from the connected device. • This VCR has a 4-pin i.LINK terminal. Select a cable th at fits the terminal on the device to be connected.
30 1 Prepare the VCR for recording. Inser t a cass ette tape for reco rdin g. Set the PO WER s witch to ON. 2 When connecting with an i.LINK cable, set the input signal to the VCR (p. 55). Normally set [HDV/DV SEL] to [AUTO] (t he default set ting). 3 Connect the V CR to the pl ayback dev ice or T V.
31 Basic Op erations • When you recor d the picture from a tape recorded in the HDV a nd DV formats by setting [HDV/DV SEL] to [AUTO], the picture and sound are temporarily interrupted when the signal switches between the HDV and DV forma ts.

39 Dubbin g/Editing Recording format The dubbed format (HDV/D V) differs depending on the recorded p icture or the format supported by the VCR, DVD/HDD recorder. See the table below for selecti ng the appropriate settings, and pe rform necessary menu setting.

If you do not wan t to set the number, go to step 3 (the numb er will be automat ically se t to 1 ).
52 • On some printer models, the top, bottom, right, and left edges of images may be trimmed. If you print a still image rec orded in a 16:9 (wide) ratio, the left and right ends of the image may be trimmed widely. • Some printer models may not support the date/ time printing funct ion.

66 The POWER/CHARGE lamp flashes while the battery pack is being charged. • Attach the battery pack to the VCR correctly (p. 12). If the p roblem persist s, discon nect the AC Adapt or from the w all out let (w all soc ket) and contact you r Sony dealer.
67 Troubles hooting You cannot de lete the recorded picture on the tape. • You cannot del ete the recorded pict ure on the tape. You c an only r ewind the tape and record again. The ne w record ing overwrites the existing o ne. You cannot de lete any or all still images at o nce stored on th e “Memory St ick Duo.
68 The picture or sound breaks off. • The tape was rec orded in both of the HDV and DV formats. This is not a malfunc tion. The movies f reeze for a while, o r the sound breaks off. • This occur s if the tape or video hea d is dirt y ( p. 82). • Use the Sony m ini DV cassette.

Never leave them exposed to temp eratures above 60 °C (140 °F), such as under direct sunlight, near heaters or in a car parked in the sun.
