4 GB Connect the speakers. Connect the speaker cords of front speakers to the SPEAKER jacks as below. R + L + – Step 1: Hooking up the system Do the following procedure 1 to 4 to hook up your system using the supplied cords (for European model only) and accessories.
5 GB Connect the FM/AM antennas. Set up the AM loop antenna, then connect it. Jack type A Jack type B For models with a voltage selector, set VOLTAGE SELECTOR to position of your local power line voltage. Connect the power cord to a wall outlet. The demonstration appears in the display.
6 GB Step 2: Setting the time You must set the time before using the timer functions. The clock is on a 24-hour system for the European model and a 12-hour system for other models.

8 GB n Step 3: Presetting radio stations (continued) 1 Press TUNER/BAND repeatedly until the band you want appears in the display. The bands you can receive vary depending on the model you purchased.
9 GB Saving the power in standby mode (For European and North American models only) You can lower the power consumption to minimum (Power Saving Mode) and save energy in standby mode. / Press POWER SAVE/DEMO (STANDBY) when the power is off (during demo or clock display mode).
10 GB VOLUME +/– 0 / ) CD (P p DISC SKIP/ EX-CHANGE PLAY MODE 6 6 Playing a CD — Normal play You can play up to three CDs in a row. 1 Press § and place up to two CDs on the disc tray. If a disc is not placed properly it will not be recognized. To insert a third disc, press DISC SKIP/ EX-CHANGE to rotate the disc tray.
Basic Operations 11 GB To Do this Stop play Press p . Pause Press CD (P ( P on the remote). Press again to resume play. Select a track During play or pause, turn the jog dial clockwise (to go forward) or counterclockwise (to go back) and release it when you reach the desired track.
12 GB Recording a CD — CD Synchro Recording The CD SYNC button lets you record from a CD to a tape easily. You can use TYPE I (normal) or TYPE II (CrO2) tapes. The recording level is adjusted automatically. 1 Press 6 and insert a blank tape into deck B.
Basic Operations 13 GB STEREO/MONO VOLUME +/– 6 6 Listening to the r adio –– Preset Tuning Preset radio stations in the tuner's memory first (see “Step 3: Presetting radio stations”). 2 1 Turn counter- clockwise (or press = on the remote) for lower preset numbers.
14 GB Recording fr om the r adio You can record the radio program on a tape by calling up a preset station. You can use TYPE I (normal) or TYPE II (CrO 2 ) tapes. The recording level is automatically adjusted. 1 Press TUNER/BAND to select the band you want.
Basic Operations 15 GB Playing a tape You can use any type of tape, TYPE I (normal), TYPE II (CrO 2 ) or TYPE IV (metal) , since the deck automatically detects the tape type. You can also use the jog dial’s AMS* functions to quickly search for songs you want to hear.

19 GB Playing the CD tr acks r epeatedly –– Repeat Play This function lets you repeat a single CD or all CDs in normal play, Shuffle Play and Program Play. PLAY MODE REPEAT 6 6 / Press REPEAT during playback until “REPEAT” appears in the display.
20 GB DISC 1~3 6 6 Playing the CD tr acks in r andom order –– Shuffle Play You can play all the tracks on one CD or all CDs in random order. 1 Press FUNCTION repeatedly until “CD” appears in the display, then place a CD. 2 Press PLAY MODE repeatedly until “1 DISC SHUFFLE ” or “ALL DISCS SHUFFLE” appears in the display.
21 GB p 6 6 Pr ogramming the CD tr acks –– Program Play You can make a program of up to 32 tracks from all the CDs in the order you want them to be played. Disc number Track number 1 1 Press FUNCTION repeatedly until “CD” appears in the display, then place a CD.
22 GB 6 6 Playing CDs without interruption –– Non-Stop Play You can play CDs without pausing between tracks. To Press Check the CHECK on the remote program repeatedly. After the last track, “CHECK END” appears. Clear a track from CLEAR on the remote in the end stop mode.
23 GB DOLBY NR p 6 6 Recording on a tape manually You can record from CD, tape, or radio as you like. For example, you can record just the songs you want or record from the middle of the tape. The recording level is adjusted automatically. 1 Insert a blank tape into deck B.
24 GB p 6 6 Recording a CD by specifying tr ack order — Program Edit You can record tracks from all the CDs in the order you want. When programming, make sure the playing times for each side do not exceed the length of one side of the tape. 1 Place a CD and insert a blank tape into deck B.
25 GB 9 Repeat steps 5 and 6 for tracks from the same disc or steps 4 to 6 for tracks from another disc to program the remaining tracks to be recorded on side B. 10 Press CD SYNC. Deck B stands by for recording and the CD player stands by for playback.
26 GB Looping part of a CD — Loop With the loop function, you can repeat part of a CD during playback. This lets you create original recordings. Jog dial Flashing part of a CD — Flash With the flash function, you can “flash” the CD sound during playback.
27 GB To reinforce bass (DBFB) Press DBFB*. Every time you press the button, the display changes as follows: * DBFB = Dynamic Bass Feedback For a powerful sound (GROOVE) Press GROOVE. The volume switches to power mode, DBFB is automatically set to full strength, the equalizer curve changes, and the “GROOVE” button lights up.

30 GB Other Features What is the Radio Data System? Radio Data System (RDS) is a broadcasting service that allows radio stations to send additional information along with the regular program signal. This tuner offers convenient RDS features like station name display and location of stations by program type.

36 GB 4 Set the time to start recording. Turn the jog dial to set the hour, then press ENTER/NEXT. The minute indication starts flashing. Turn the jog dial to set the minute, then press ENTER/NEXT. The hour indication flashes again. 5 Set the time to stop recording following the above procedure.
37 GB Connecting audio components Select one of the following two connections, depending on the equipment to be connected and method of connecting. Refer to the instructions of each component. Connecting an MD deck for digital recording You can record from CD into the MD deck digitally by connecting an optical cable.
38 GB Connecting a VCR Make sure to match the color of the plugs and the connectors. To listen to the sound of the connected VCR, hold down FUNCTION and press when the power is turned off. This switches the “MD” function to “VIDEO”. Once you enable the “VIDEO” function, just press FUNCTION repeatedly until “VIDEO” appears.

40 GB Pr ecautions On operating voltage Before operating the unit, check that the operating voltage of your unit is identical with the voltage of your local power supply. On safety • The unit is not disconnected from the AC power source (mains) as long as it is connected to the wall outlet, even if the unit itself has been turned off.
41 GB Before placing a cassette in the tape deck Take up any slack in the tape. Otherwise the tape may get entangled in the parts of the tape deck and become damaged. When using a tape longer than 90 minutes The tape is very elastic. Do not change the tape operations such as play, stop, and fast-winding etc.

Opérations de base 11 FR Vous devez Appuyer sur p . Appuyer sur CD (P ( P de la télécommande). Appuyer encore pour poursuivre la lecture. Pendant la lecture ou la pause, tourner la molette vers la droite (recherche avant) ou vers la gauche (recherche arrière) et la relâcher à l’endroit souhaité.
12 FR 2 Appuyez sur § et posez un CD. Appuyez une nouvelle fois pour fermer le plateau de disques. Si la touche correspondant au disque que vous voulez enregistrer n’est pas allumée en vert, appuyez de façon répétée sur DISC SKIP/EX-CHANGE pour qu’elle s’allume en vert.
Opérations de base 13 FR n Ecoute de la r adio — Accord d’une station préréglée Préréglez d’abord des stations radio (voir “Etape 3: Préréglage de stations radio”). 1 Appuyez de façon répétée sur TUNER/BAND jusqu’à ce que la gamme souhaitée apparaisse sur l’afficheur.
14 FR Pour écouter une station qui n’a pas été préréglée Utilisez l’accord manuel ou automatique ou à l’étape 2. Pour l’accord manuel, appuyez de façon répétée sur + ou – ( ¡ ou 1 de la télécommande). Pour l’accord automatique, appuyez en continu sur + ou – ( ¡ ou 1 de la télécommande).
Opérations de base 15 FR 3 Appuyez sur 6 et insérez une cassette vierge dans la platine B. 4 Appuyez sur REC PAUSE/START. La platine B se met en attente d’enregistrement. 5 Appuyez de façon répétée sur DIRECTION pour sélectionner A et enregistrer sur une seule face.
16 FR 1 Appuyez sur 6 et insérez une cassette enregistrée dans la platine A ou B. 2 Appuyez de façon répétée sur DIRECTION pour sélectionner A et écouter une seule face. Sélectionnez ß * pour écouter les deux faces. Pour écouter à la suite les deux cassettes insérées dans les platines, sélectionnez RELAY (lecture à relais).

18 FR Utilisation de l’affichage Vous pouvez vérifier le temps restant de la plage en cours de lecture ou le temps du CD. Si vous insérez un disque CD TEXT, vous pourrez voir d’autres informations, comme les titres du disque et des plages, le nom de l’artiste, etc.
19 FR Lectur e répétée des plages de CD — Lecture répétée Cette fonction vous permet d’écouter plusieurs fois de suite un seul CD ou tous les CD dans les modes de lecture normale, aléatoire et programmée.
20 FR Lectur e des plages de CD dans un or dre aléatoir e — Lecture aléatoire Les plages d’un CD ou de tous les CD peuvent être reproduites dans un ordre aléatoire. 1 Appuyez de façon répétée sur FUNCTION jusqu’à ce que “CD” apparaisse sur l’afficheur, puis posez un CD.
21 FR Pr ogr ammation des plages de CD — Lecture programmée Vous pouvez créer un programme contenant jusqu’à 32 plages de tous les CD pour les écouter dans l’ordre de votre choix. 1 Appuyez de façon répétée sur FUNCTION jusqu’à ce que “CD” apparaisse sur l’afficheur, puis posez un CD.
22 FR Lectur e ininterrompue de CD — Lecture continue Vous pouvez écouter les CD en supprimant les pauses entre les plages. 1 Appuyez de façon répétée sur FUNCTION jusqu’à ce que “CD” apparaisse sur l’afficheur, puis posez un CD. 2 Appuyez sur NON-STOP pour allumer le voyant.
23 FR La platine à cassettes Enr egistr ement manuel sur une cassette Vous pouvez enregistrer un CD, une cassette ou une émission de radio, comme vous voulez. Par exemple, vous pouvez enregistrer seulement certains morceaux ou commencer l’enregistrement au milieu d’une cassette.
24 FR Enr egistrement d’un CD en spécifiant l’ordr e des plages — Montage programmé Vous pouvez enregistrer les plages de tous les CD dans l’ordre souhaité. Lorsque vous créez un programme, assurez-vous que le temps de lecture pour chaque face ne dépasse pas la longueur de bande de chaque face de la cassette.
25 FR 9 Répétez les étapes 5 et 6 pour programmer d’autres plages d’un même disque ou les étapes 4 à 6 pour programmer d’autres plages d’un autre disque pour l’enregistrement sur la face B. 10 Appuyez sur CD SYNC. La platine B se met en attente d’enregistrement et le lecteur de CD en attente de lecture.
26 FR FLASH Repr oduction str oboscopée d’une portion d’un CD — Fonction FLASH La fonction FLASH est une technique consistant à reproduire le son par impulsions pendant la lecture, ce qui permet de faire des enregistrements originaux.
27 FR n DBFB NORMAL (DBFB ) µ DBFB HIGH (DBFB ) µ DBFB OFF (hors service) Réglage sonore Remarques • Si les basses du morceau reproduit sont trop puissantes, l’utilisation du système DBFB et de l’égaliseur graphique provoquera une distorsion du son.

31 FR 1 Appuyez sur PTY tout en écoutant la radio. 2 Tournez la molette pour sélectionner le type de programme souhaité. Voir la “Liste des types de programmes” plus loin.
32 FR n Chant sur fond musical: Kar aoké Vous pouvez chanter au son d’un CD ou d’une cassette stéréo en éliminant la voix du chanteur. Vous devez pour cela raccorder un microphone disponible en option. 1 Réglez MIC LEVEL sur 0 pour réduire le niveau du microphone.
33 FR Mixage et enregistrement de sons 1 Appuyez de façon répétée sur FUNCTION pour sélectionner la source souhaitée et mettez-la en pause. 2 Réalisez les étapes 1 à 5 de la section “Chant sur fond musical: Karaoké”. Puis insérez une cassette dans la platine B.
34 FR 1 Préparez la source sonore que vous voulez écouter. • CD: Insérez un CD. Pour commencer à partir d’une plage particulière, créez un programme (voir “Programmation des plages de CD”). • Cassette: Insérez une cassette avec la face que vous voulez écouter tournée vers l’avant.

36 FR TIMER SELECT 6 6 4 Réglez l’heure à laquelle l’enregistrement doit commencer. Tournez la molette pour régler l’heure, puis appuyez sur ENTER/NEXT. Les chiffres des minutes clignotent. Tournez la molette pour régler les minutes, puis appuyez sur ENTER/ NEXT.
37 FR Raccordement d’appareils audio Selon l’appareil qui sera raccordé et la méthode de raccordement, choisissez une des deux liaisons suivantes.
38 FR Raccordement d’un magnétoscope Veillez à faire correspondre la couleur des fiches et des prises. Pour écouter le son fourni par le magnétoscope raccordé, tenez FUNCTION enfoncée et appuyez sur quand la chaîne est hors tension. La fonction “MD” se règle sur la fonction “VIDEO”.
39 FR Antenne AM Raccordez un fil isolé de 6 à 15 mètres (20 à 50 pieds) à la borne d’antenne AM. Laissez l’antenne cadre AM fournie raccordée. Type de prise A Type de prise B Raccordement d’antennes extérieur es Raccordez une antenne extérieure pour améliorer la réception.
40 FR Remarques sur les CD • Avant d’écouter un CD, nettoyez-le avec un chiffon doux. Essuyez le CD du centre vers la périphérie. • Ne pas utiliser de solvants, comme les produits de nettoyage à base de benzène ou de diluant, en vente dans le commerce, ni de vaporisateur anti- électricité statique prévu pour les disques en vinyle.
41 FR Avant d’insérer une cassette dans la platine Tendez la bande, sinon elle risque de s’emmêler dans les pièces de la platine et d’être endommagée. Si vous utilisez une cassette de plus de 90 minutes La bande de ces cassettes est très élastique.
42 FR “PROTECT” et “PUSH POWER” apparaissent alternativement. • Un signal puissant a été émis. Appuyez sur pour mettre la chaîne hors tension, laissez-la un instant hors tension, puis appuyez à nouveau sur pour la remettre sous tension.
