31 Basic Operat ions Shooting still image s (Scene Selection) Underwater Allows you to shoot underwater in natural colors when using a water proof housing. * When you shoot image s using (Twilight Por trait), (Twilight) or (Fireworks) mode, the shutte r speed becomes slower, and blurring occurs frequently, so use of a tripod is recommended.

33 Basic Operat ions Shooting still image s (Scene Selection) z Hints for b etter captu ring of smiles 1 Do not cover the eyes with the bangs. 2 Try to orient the face in front of the camera and be as level as poss ible. The detection rate is higher when the eyes are nar rowed.
34 Shootin g with the man ual expo sure 1 Select M from the mode dial and press z on the control button. • [SET] changes to [RETURN] on the l ower left of the scree n and the camera is se t to manual exposure setting mode. 2 Adjust the exposure manually using the control button.
35 Basic Operat ions Shoo ting w ith the m anu al exp osur e • When you set the shutter speed slower, using a tripod is recommended to pr event the effects of vibration.
36 View ing images 1 Press the (Playback) button. • If y ou press the ( Playback) button when the camera is powered off, the camera is turned o n automatically and s et to p layback mode. To s w itch to the shooting mode, press the (Playback) button again.
