11 Getting star te d , Conne ct the power co rd (mains lead) to th e AC Adaptor and then to a wa ll outlet (wall socke t). The /CHG lamp (ora nge ) lights up when chargi ng begi ns, and g oes of f when chargin g is co mp le ted. • After charging the battery pack, disconnect the A C Adaptor from the DC IN jack of your cam era .
12 Number of images and battery life that can be recorded/ viewed The tables sho w the approximate number of images and the bat tery life that can be recor ded/ viewed when you shoot images in no rmal mode with a fully charged battery pack at a tem perature of 25°C ( 77°F).

Conn ect th e plug with the v mark facing up. • Connect the A C Adaptor to an easily acc essible wall outlet (wall socket) close by .

42 Choosing an aut o focus method There are two A uto Focus functio ns: “AF range fi nde r fra me ” whic h set s the foc us position ac cording t o the subject po sition and size, a nd “A F mode” whi ch sets the focu s o per atio n acco rdi ng to the AF response a nd th e batte ry co nsumptio n.

44 Shooting techniques Even if it is difficult to focu s in AF shooting because the subject is not in the center of the frame, you can focus in this situation using Center AF . For example, when you are shooting two hu man subjects, and there is a gap between them, the camera may focus on the background visible in the gap.

49 Advanced still im age sh ooting • Y ou cannot use the flash in this mode. • During shooting i n this mode, t he images are not displayed on the screen. Compose the image before pressing t he shutter button. • The focus and white bala nce are adjusted for the fi rst image, and thes e settings are also us ed for the other images.
50 • Under fluor e scent ligh ts that flicker, the white balance adjustment function may not work correctly even though you select (fluorescent). • When the flash strobes, the ma nual setting is canceled, and the im age is recorded in [Auto] mode (except in (Flash) mode).

Each time you pre ss the shut ter but ton in this mo de, the came ra records t hree (DSC- P10/P12) or two (DSC -P8) images in succession.

The shutter speed becomes slower, so we recom mend t hat you u se a t ripod to preve nt shaking.
