11 Basic t echniqu es for bet ter ima ges A digital ima ge is made up of a c ollection of smal l dots called pixe ls. If i t contai ns a lar ge number of pi xels, th e image b ecomes large, i t take s up more memory, and the imag e is di splayed in fine d etail.

21 Changi ng t he s creen disp lay Each time you pre ss v (DISP) on the control but ton, the displ ay changes as follows: • If you view images in bright outside light , adjust the brightness of the LCD backlight up. However, the battery power may decrea se faster under such condition.

31 Bas ic Op erat ion s Shooti ng wit h the man ual expo sure 1 Select M from the mode dial and press z on t he contr ol butt on. • [SET] changes to [RETURN] on the lower left of the screen and the camera is set to manual exposure setting mode. 2 Adjust the exposure manually using the control button.
32 Shooti ng with t he m anual ex posure • To select a flash mode, shoot in Macro mode/s elf-timer mode, or change the screen display mode, press z to cancel Manual Exposure Shooting mode ([RETUR N] changes to [SET] on the screen.). • The flash is set to (Flash On ) or (Flas h Off).
33 Bas ic Op erat ion s Viewin g images 1 Press (Playba ck). • If you press (Playback) when the ca mera is powered off, t he camera is turned on automatically and set to playback mode. To switch to th e shooting mode, press (Playb ack) again. 2 Select an image with b / B on the contr ol button.

It usually takes a second after you press the shutter button. Be also sure not to allow the subject to move during this period.
