4 Notes on using your cam era T ype s of “Memo ry St ick” t hat can be used (not su pplie d) The IC recor ding med ium used by this camera is a “Memor y Stick”. There are two types of “M emory Stick”. • “Memory Stick”: you can use a “Memory Stick” with your camera.

13 Enjoyin g the came ra A digital ima ge is made up of a coll ection of smal l dots called pixels. If it contains a l arge nu mber of pix els, the pi cture become s large, it takes u p more memor y , and the ima ge is displaye d in fine detail. “Ima ge size” is shown by the numbe r of pixels.

26 Using th e jog dial The jo g dial is used to change the sett ing va lues when shooti n g with the manual adj ustment modes (shu tter speed pri ority mode, ap erture priori ty mode, manua l exposure mo de) or the EV adjust ment. By turni ng the jog di al, you ca n also easily vi ew the next/previous image.

84 The battery remaining indicator is incorrect, or sufficient battery remaining indicat or is displa yed but the po wer runs out too qui ckly . • This p henome n on occurs when you use the camera in an extremely hot or cold l ocation (pa g e 98). • The ba tteries are dischar g ed.
85 T roubleshoot ing – Delete unnecessa ry images ( t st ep 6 i n “Read Th is F irst” ) – Change the “Memory Stic k”. • Set the write-pro tect switch on the “Memory Stick” to the reco rding position (pag e 9 6). • Y ou canno t rec ord im ages wh ile ch arging the fl ash.
86 • Y ou can not use the flash when: – Mul ti Burst, Burst o r Exposur e Bracke t mode is sele cted ( page 34 ). – (T wilight mode) or (Candle mode) of the Sce ne mode, or (movie) is selected ( t step 5 in “ R ead T his First” ).
87 T roubleshoot ing The eyes of the subject come out red. • Set [Red Eye Reduction] in the (Setu p) menu to [On] (page 52). • Shoot the subject at a di stance closer t han the recommend ed shooting dis tance using th e flash ( t step 5 in “Read Thi s First” ).
88 Y ou have deleted an imag e by mistake. • Once you have deleted a n image, you cannot r estore it . W e recommen d that yo u set protec tion on an image (page 4 4), or set t he write-pro tect switch on the “Memor y Stick” to the LOCK posit ion (page 96) to prev ent accid ental erasur e.
89 T roubleshoot ing The Removable disk icon does not appear o n the com puter screen when you connect your computer to the camera. • Foll ow the p roced ure belo w to insta ll the USB dri ve r again. The f ollowi n g proc edure is for a Windo ws comput er .
90 Cannot insert a “Mem or y Stic k”. • Inser t it in th e correct direct ion ( t step 3 in “R ead T his First” ). Cannot rec ord on a “Memory St ick”. • Set the write- protect swi tch on the “Memor y Stick” to the recording posi tion (page 96).
91 T roubleshoot ing A connection cannot be established. • The came ra canno t be conne cted direc tly t o a pri nter th at is not c ompli ant w ith the Pi ctBrid ge stand ard. Cons ult the p rinter ma nufactu rer as to whether the print er is c ompliant w ith PictBrid ge or not.

93 T roubleshoot ing W arning indicators a nd messages If a code st arting with a let ter of the alpha bet appear s, your camera has a self- diagnos is d isplay . The last two digit s (indica ted by ss ) will dif fer de pendi ng on the st ate of th e came ra.
94 Memory Stick locked • Set the w rite-p rotec t switc h on the “Memory Stic k” to the recor ding position ( page 96). No memory space in internal memory No memory space in Memory Stick • Delete unnecess ary images or files ( t step 6 in “Read This F irs t” ).
95 T roubleshoot ing Enable printer to connect • [USB Connect] is se t to [PictB ridge], howe ver th e camera is co nnected to a non-Pic tBridge com pliant device. Check th e devi ce. • The connec tion is not establis hed. Disconnec t and connect the USB cable again.
