10 GB Preparations 1 Checking the contents of the package Make sure that the following accessories are supplied with your printer. Paper tray (1) AC adaptor (AC-S2425) (1) AC power cord * (1) * The AC power cord illustrated is for 120V only.
11 GB Preparations 2 Preparing the print pack To print an image, you need a print pack designed for the printer. The sample color print pack contains a set of 10 sheets of post card size print paper and a print cartridge for 10 prints.
12 GB Removing the print cartridge When the print cartridge runs out, the cartridge error message appears on the LCD screen. Open the cartridge compartment door, push up the eject lever, and remove the used print cartridge. Eject lever Notes • Use the print cartridge contained in the same box with the print paper.
13 GB Preparations • Never put your hand into the cartridge compartment. The thermal head reaches high temperatures, especially after repeated printing. • Do not rewind the ink ribbon and use the rewound print cartridge for printing. Otherwise, proper printing result will not be obtained, or even a malfunction may occur.
14 GB 3 Set the print paper into the tray. You can set up to 20 sheets of print paper. Riffle the print paper thoroughly. Insert the print paper into the tray, with the protective sheet at the top. If there is no protective sheet: Riffle the print paper thoroughly.
15 GB Preparations 6 Pull and open the printer’s paper tray compartment door. 7 Insert the paper tray into the printer. Insert the paper tray straight in until it reaches the end. Note Make sure that the paper tray is not inserted at any angle. If it is, the printer will not print properly.
16 GB 5 Connecting the AC power source 1 I nsert one plug of the supplied AC power cord to the supplied AC adaptor. 2 Insert the other plug of the AC power cord to the wall outlet close by (wall socket). 3 Insert the plug of the AC adaptor to the DC IN 24V jack of the printer.
17 GB Preparations Inserting a memory card To print an image stored on a “Memory Stick” (or “Memory Stick Duo”), or SD card, insert it into the relevant card slot. When multiple memory cards are inserted, the card inserted first will have the first priority.
18 GB Connecting a camera or other external device To print an image from a camera or other external device, connect it to the printer . You can connect an external device that supports mass storage system. For how to connect the PictBridge-compliant digital camera, see page 46.
19 GB Preparations Notes • The type of USB cable you should use may differ depending on the digital camera. Use a USB cable with an A-TYPE connector for the printer and an appropriate type for your digital camera. • We cannot guarantee connection with all types of mass storage devices.
20 GB Before you start, make sure to insert or connect only a media that contains the images you want to print. The name of the media whose images are being displayed appears on the upper left corner of the LCD screen. Printing an image 1 Press 1 (on/standby) switch to turn on the printer.

(If not, check to see that the print paper and print cartridge are properly set.) 4 When printing is complete and the print paper automatically emerges, remove the printed paper from the paper tray.
22 GB Printing multiple images This section explains how to select multiple images, specify print quantity for each of them and print them at a time. 1 Press 1 (on/standby) switch to turn on the printer. The 1 (on/standby) indicator of the printer lights in yellow green.
23 GB Making basic printing 4 Press f / F to set the print quantity. • To increase the print quantity one by one, press f repeatedly. • To reduce the print quantity one by one, press F briefly repeatedly. • To reset the print quantity to zero immediately, press F for more than two seconds.
24 GB Using the LCD screen You can switch an image preview and the image list display to view and check a picture before printing. • Press (zoom out) repeatedly. An image is reduced up to the original scale and then the display changes from an image preview to the image list.
25 GB Making basic printing **Associated file/DPOF/Protect indications • Associated file indication: The image, in addition to the displayed image, has an associated file such as a motion file or a miniature e-mail image file. • DPOF indication: The image is DPOF preset with a digital camera.
26 GB Making various printing Editing an image Displaying the Edit menu You can display the Edit menu and edit or add an effect to an image. Buttons to be used in the Edit menu g / G / f / F/ ENTER PRINT CANCEL MENU 1 Display the image that you want to edit.
27 GB Making various printing 3 Move the image with g / G / f / F . The image moves to the selected direction. 4 Press ENTER. The image is fixed to the position. Tip To print the image previewed, press PRINT (page 30). Rotating an image 1 Display the Edit menu (page 26).
28 GB 3 Press f/F to select the direction to rotate the image and then press ENTER. • Rotate 90° Clockwise: Each time you press ENTER, the image rotates 90° clockwise. • Rotate 90° Counterclockwise: Each time you press ENTER, the image rotates 90° counterclockwise.
29 GB Making various printing The Filter menu is displayed. Filter menu Filter icon 3 Press f / F to select the desired filter you want to add to the image. • Sepia: Changes the image like an old photograph with faded colors. • Monochrome: Changes the image into a black and white picture.
30 GB Printing and saving an image Printing an image 1 Press PRINT. The dialog box to specify the print quantity is displayed. 2 Press f / F to increase or decrease the print quantity. • To increase the print quantity one by one, press f repeatedly.
31 GB Making various printing The dialog box for setting date is displayed. You can save the date with the image. 2 Set date. Press f / F to select the number and press g / G to select the day, month or year. Then press ENTER. The edited or Creative Print image is saved as a new image.
32 GB Making split images You can make a print with 2-split, 4-split, 9- split, 13-split, or 16- split images. 1 Display the Creative Print menu (page 31). 2 Press g / G to select “Split Image”, then press ENTER. The split image templates are displayed.
33 GB Making various printing 4 Press g / G / f / F to select the desired image area and press ENTER. The window for selecting an image is displayed. 5 Press g / G / f / F to select the desired image, and then press ENTER. The window used for adjusting the image position is displayed.
34 GB Making a calendar You can make calendars with your favorite images. 1 Display the Creative Print menu (page 31). 2 Press g / G to select “Calendar”, then press ENTER. The window used for selecting the calendar template, is displayed. 3 Press g / G to select the desired template, and then press ENTER.
35 GB Making various printing Item Procedures Start Y/M Set the first month and the year starting the calendar. Press g / G to select the month or year and press f / F to set the number. Press ENTER. Start Day Set the day of the week (placed furthest left in the calendar).
36 GB Note If there are no DPOF preset images when you selected “DPOF Print,” an error message will be displayed. 4 Press g/G to select “Yes” to start printing or “No” to cancel printing, and then press ENTER. When you select “Yes,” printing starts.

(Recommended) • Vivid: Adjusts an image automatically so that the image is printed with stronger sharpness correction and more vivid pictures than the Photo mode.
43 GB Making various printing Item Settings Contents Date Print On Prints the date of shooting with an image when the image is a file recorded in the DCF (Design rule for Camera File system) format. To make a print with the date of shooting, shoot an image in the DCF file format.

48 GB • Do not remove the USB cable from or connect it to the printer during data communication or printing. The printer may not work properly. • Do not allow the PC connected to the printer to switch to standby mode or hibernation mode during printing.

56 GB Items Functions Copies Specify the number of copies to be printed. Enlarge/Reduce Specify the percentage to enlarge or reduce the size of an image when printed. You can set the reference point when an image is enlarged or reduced by checking “Upper left reference”.

59 GB Printing from a PC To register a browsing folder The Picture Motion Browser does not allow you to view images saved on the PC hard disk directly. You must to register the browsing folder as follows: 1 Click “File”-“Register Viewed Folder,” or click (Register Folders to View).
60 GB Printing from other application software You can use a commercially-available application software to print an image from the DPP-FP55. Select “DPP-FP55” in the print dialog box and select the print paper size in the page setup dialog box. For details in print settings, see steps 5 and 6 on pages 56 and 57.
