NOTE: T o access the Num Lock and Scroll Lock functions, hold the Fn key do wn while pressing the F1 1 and F12 keys respectively . Lock Key Description Caps Lock When Caps Lock is on, all al phabetic characters typed are in upper case.
Chapter 1 15 Embedded Numeric Keyp ad The embedded nu meric keypad functions like a desktop numeric keypad. It is indicated by small characters located on the up per right corner of the ke ycaps. T o simplify the keyboard legend , cursor-control key symbols are not printed on the keys.

Chapter 2 37 I/O Device Configuration The parameters in this screen are for advanced user s only . Y ou do not need to change the values in this screen because these valu es are already optimized. The I/O Device Configur ation screen assigns resour ces to basic computer communication hardware.
38 T ravelMate C1 10 Interrupt Sets the IRQ of the Com operation. Help: Set the base I/O a ddress for serial port A. IRQ3 IRQ4 DMA Channel Sets a DMA channel for the printer to operate in ECP mode. This parameter is enabled only if operation mode is set to ECP .

Chapter 2 41 Boot Options Users can press F12 during POST to enter the Boot Options Menu. In this menu users can ch ange boot device without entering BIOS SETUP utility . NOTE: There are four priorities that can let t he user to specify the boot device sequence.

Chapter 2 45 Y ou have three chances to enter a password. If you successfully ente red the password, the system start s Windows. If you fail to enter the password correct ly after three tries, the system hangs. T o change a password, follow the same steps used to set a password.

Chapter 2 47 Running PQA Diagnostics Program Press z / x to move around the main menu. Press e to enable the selected option. The main optio ns are Diag, Result, SysI nfo, Op tion and Exit. The Diag option lets you select testing items and times. The following screen appea rs when you select Diag from the main menu.

72 T ravelMate C1 10 System Check Procedures External Diskette Drive Check Do the following to isolate the problem to a controller , dr iver , or diskette. A write-ena bled , diagnostic diskette is required. NOTE: Make sure that the diskette does not have more than on e label attached to it.
Chapter 4 73 Keyboard or Auxiliary Input Device Check Remove the external keyboard if the internal keyboard is to be tested. If the internal ke yboard does not work o r an unexpected character appears, make sure that the flexible cable extending from the keyboard is correctly se ated in the conne ctor on the system board.

Chapter 4 83 Intermittent Problems Intermittent system hang problems can be caused by a variety of reasons th at have nothing to do with a hardware defect, such as: cosmic radiation, electros tatic discharge, or software errors. FRU replacement should be considered only when a recurring prob lem exists.
84 T ravelMate C1 10 Undetermined Problems The diagnostic proble ms does not identify which ad apter or device failed, which installed devices ar e incorrect, whether a short circuit is suspected, or whether the system is inoperative. Follow these procedure s to isolate the faili ng FRU (do not isolate non-defective FRU).
