6 What you can do with this printer Shoot images using the DSC-W80. For details on how to use the DSC-W80, refer to the Instru ction Manual supplied with the camera and the Cyber-shot Handbook (PDF).
7 Y ou can enjoy images on the came ra on a high-definition TV us ing the component video cable (supplied ). t page 17 When you turn off the po wer of the camera, the camera adaptor can charge the battery pack inside the camera. The camera adaptor can charge the battery faster than the battery charger supplied with the camera.

11 Preparations Preparing the print pack T o print an image, you need a print pack designed for the printe r . The sample color print pack contains a set of 5 sheets of post card size print paper an d an ink ribbon fo r 5 prints.
12 Loading the ink ribbon 1 Pull and open the ink ribbon compartm ent cover . 2 Insert the ink ribbon i n the arro w direction until it clicks into place. 3 Close the ink ribbon compartm ent cover . Removing the ink ribbon When the ink ribbon runs out, the ERR OR indicator will flash slowly .
13 • Never put your hand into the ink ribbon compartment. The therma l he ad reaches h igh temperatures, especially after repeated printing. • Do not rewind the ink ribbon and use the rewound ink ribbon for printing. Otherwise, proper printing result wi ll not be obtained, or even a malfunction may occur .
14 3 Set the print paper into the tray . Y ou can set up to 20 sheets of print paper . Riffle the print paper thoroughly . Insert the print paper into the tray, with the protectiv e sheet at the top. If there is no protective sheet: Riffle the print paper thoroughly .
15 6 Insert the pap er tray into the printe r . Insert the paper tray straight in unt il it reaches the end. P Notes • Do not remove the paper tray during printing. • T o avoid paper jam or malfun ctions of th e printer, make sure the following before printing: – Do not write or type on the print paper.
16 3 Connect the printer to a TV . Connect the printer to the high definition TV wi th the component video cable and the A/V connecting cable. • When both the Component video cab le and the A/V connecting cable are connect ed, images will be output not via t he A/V OUT jack, but via the COMPONENT OUT jack.
17 Viewing images on the TV P Note Check the “USB Connec t” setting of the camera is set to “PictBridge” or “ Auto”. For details, refer to the Instruction Manual supplied with the camera and the Cyber-shot Handbook.
18 Printing images • Y ou can print images by pres sing either the control buttons on the remote control or on the camera. 1 Place the camera on the camera adaptor and turn on the power of the camera.
19 • The print paper emerges from the rear a few times during printin g. Do not touch or pull ou t the paper that appeared. Make sure to spare enough space behind the printer, such as by using the paper protector, etc.
20 Charging the batter y pack T urn of f the camera and place the camer a with the battery pack inserted on the camera adaptor . Char ging star ts automatically . The CHARGE indicator of the camera ad aptor lights up. • When the camera is tu rned on, the camera adaptor stops charging the battery pack.
21 T roubleshooting If you run into an y problems using the printer , use the following guidance to so lve the problem. If the problem persists, cons ult your Sony dealer . x Power/Charging Cannot turn on the printer . • Check wh ether the AC power cord is proper ly connect ed to an AC outlet.
22 x Printing An error is display ed on the camera and you cannot print im ages. • The ink ribbon does not match the paper ty pe. Insert the correct print pap er that mat ches the ink ribbo n loaded to the print er . T o change the ink ri bbon, stop printin g, and repla ce the ink ribbon, t hen resume pri nting.
23 x Printed results The prin ted pictu res are po or in quali ty . • Dust is on the ink r ibbon. Wipe the plastic part of the ink ribbon and remove dust. • Dust or finger prints are i mprinted o n the printed surface. Do not touch the pr inting su rface (the glossy s ide with no i mprint).
24 x Others Cannot insert the in k ribbon easily . • Remove the ink ribb on and th en re-inse rt it. Only when the in k ribbon is too slacked to be loaded, wi nd the ink r ibbon in the directi on of the ar row to remove the slack. ( t page 13) The ink ribbon cannot be rem oved.
25 If the print paper jams, the ERROR indicator lights or flashes rapidly an d printing stops. When the ERR OR indicator lights, remo ve the print paper and resume printing. When the ERR OR indicator flashes rapidly , disconnect the A C po we r cord (mains lead) from the wall outlet (wall socket), then insert it again.
26 4 Place the cleaning sheet into the paper tray . Insert the cleaning sheet with the no-imprint side facing up . 5 Set the paper tray into the printer . The printer starts cleaning automa tically . The 1 (on/standby) indicator flashes s lowly in green.
27 Precautions • Be careful not to s et or drop an y hea vy objects on the po wer cord, or to damage the power cord in any way . Never operate this printer with a damaged power cord. • Should any solid object or liquid fall into the cabinet, unplug the printer and ha ve it checked by qualif ied personnel before operating it any further .
28 When you store the print paper or the ink ribbon, pay attention to the following. • A void placing the print paper or the ink ribbon in a location subject to high temperatures, high humidity , excessi ve dust or direct s unlight. • When you are going to store pa rtially- used print paper or ink ribbon, store it in its original bag.
