6 7 Precautions Installation • A void placing the dri ve in a location subject to: – high humidity – high temperature – excessi ve dust – mechanical vibration – direct sunlight. W e recommend to use the dri ve in a horizontal or vertical position.
8 9 Setting the Jumper s Set the jumpers on the rear of the driv e in accordance with the conguration of your computer system. The illustration below sho ws the jumpers set to the “MASTER” position, this is the default set by the factory . Y our computer should ha ve a PRIMAR Y IDE bus and a SECOND AR Y IDE bus.
10 11 Connecting the Drive The driv e should be connected to the computer with the following connectors: • DC INPUT connector . • A UDIO OUT connector (if you plan to connect audio equipment). • IDE INTERF A CE connector . DC INPUT connector The pin assignment for the DC connector is as follows.

Using Discs Storing Discs • Do not store the disc in a location subject to: – high humidity – high temperature – excessi ve dust – direct sunlight Care of Discs • Hold the disc by its edge.
14 15 Installing the Software T o use the drive as a CD-Rom Reader . W indows 95, 98, NT 4.0, Me, 2000 systems or a Macintosh (with a IDE interface) should detected the dri ve at start up and the appropri- ate A T API driv ers be installed automatically to read discs.
16 17 4 Gently push the tray or press the eject b utton to close the tray . The dri ve will begin reading the T able of Contents (TOC) data when it accepts the disc.
18 19 How to Use the Disc Loc ks The disc tray has four disc locks that prev ent the disc from falling when the driv e is set up in vertical position. Note: When the driv e is used in horizontal position, you do not need to lock the disc.
