IW Instr uction Manual Intr oduction The iPort™ In-W all Docking System allows an Apple iPod ® to become part of a whole-home audio system, and/or to be used as a source in a variety of local audio systems. Before installing and using the iPort please r ead and follow all of the instructions in this guide carefully .

(See Installing The iPort In A Wall , on page 9.) • Direct sunlight can interfer e with IR operation. Avoid installation locations that ar e in direct sunlight a portion of the da y.
5 iPort ver . IW Instr uction Manual iP or t System Connections — IW -1 / IW -2 See Figure 3 IW-1 and IW-2 systems’ unbalanced audio output is designed for use in a local-zone system where the audio equipment is locat- ed less than 2 0 feet fr om the iPort.
iPort ver . IW 3a. If the system includes a #70071 or #70072 line- level volume control, set the iPort’ s V olume Control YES/NO switch to the right ( YES ) position (volume control in system). 3b. Use 5-conductor twin-shielded wire to connect the volume control to the iPort 5-pin connector block.
7 iPort ver . IW Instr uction Manual 7. Use a stereo RCA audio cable to connect the iPort W allplate to a source input on the local-zone audio system. 8. After installing the iPort in the wall (see Installing the iPort in a Wall, page 9), plug the power supply into a wall outlet.
8 iPort ver . IW Instr uction Manual 3. Set the iPort’ s V olume Control YES/NO switch to the left (NO) position (no volume control in system). • The iPort’ s volume control cir cuit will af fect all zones in a multi-zone system. It is designed for use only in a local-zone system.

Plug the video Cat5 cable’ s RJ-45 connectors into the Video jacks on the iPort and the RJ-45 connector on the Video W allplate, as shown above in Figure 6 . 11b. Install the iPort Video W allplate in an electrical box in the room where the audio equipment is located.
