6. Make and configure the network connection The A WS Logictivity software is designed to communicate with your workstation over Ethernet using the ipMIDI driver to emulate a multiport MIDI interface. The ipMIDI driver enables your workstation to send and receive MIDI control data via a network connection.
7. Direct network configur ation (Macintosh) Please note that currently OS X does not allo w two ports to be used for IP traf fic. As such, the connection to your main network will not be available while the AWS is connected.
N ext select the Ethernet port which is connected to the AWS and configure as shown below:.
If your Macintosh featur es multiple network ports, you should set the priority of these so that the E thernet port connected to your AWS is at the top of the list.
N ow drag the port connected to the AWS to the top of the list (in our example this port is E thernet 2): N ow click OK, then Apply . Alternatively , if you have already created a separate Location.
8. Direct network configuration ( PC) Double click on N etwork Connections in Start/Control P anel. Right click on the network adapter connected to your A WS (likely to be called "Local Area Connection"). Select P roperties. Select Internet P rotocol (TCP/IP) and P roperties.
N ext, configure the adapter as shown belo w: Click on OK on both windows to save. B ack in your network connection list, right click on your adaptor and ensur e that it is enabled. If it is disabled, the enable option will appear in the list. Click on enable.

10. Finding the console using the AWS R emote application Launch AWS Remote on y our workstation. If you only hav e one AWS console on the network, A WS Remote will automatically locate the console.
11. Setting y ou workstation(s) to communicate via ipMIDI The AWS Logictivity software enables 12 MIDI port s which are pre-assigned as follo ws: N ote that there are no w two switchable workstation layers allo wing two independent workstations to be interfaced.
T o enable control of your wor kstation via HUI or MCU your workstation(s) must be configur ed to match the appropriate layer in the list abo ve. This is done using the MIDI Controller configuration page of your w orkstation.
If you have AWSomation, set the MT C generator port in the Synchronization tab to ipMIDI port 7:.
Also, set the MMC MIDI port in the Machine Contr ol tab to ipMIDI port 7:.
Logic P ro 9 When Logic is assigned to one of the two AWS wor kstation layers a Mackie Contr ol together with a Mackie Control Extender must be added to the Logic P ro Pr eferences/Control S urfaces Setup menu. A WS F aders 1-8 are mapped to the Mackie Control ports along with the M aster F ader and workstation Control function switches.

• U sing the fixed default IP address on the console, check that the workstation has basic communications using ‘ ping’. On W indows: Select Run under the S tart menu. In the resulting window enter cmd to launch the command prompt. In the command prompt window enter ping 192.
14. Larger networks T o ensure minimum latency the ipMIDI driver uses multicast UDP rather than TCP/IP . This means that: • The network connection should be as short as possible and should only use routers that can support high data transfer rates.
Configure the switch in the static multicast gr oups page to forward packets with a multicast mac address of 01-00- 5E- 00-00-25 to only the ports which the AWS900+ and the DA W computer are connected to. F or the Netgear GS108T , the configuration looks like this: In this configuration, ipM idi data will only be passed to ports 1 and 2.
15. Assigning the AWS IP address By default, AWS uses a fixed IP address of 192.168.1.2. Dynamic (DHCP) address allocation can be selected via the SSL/NET menu.
Set the terminal as follo ws: Baud rate 19200, 8 data bits, N o parity , No start bit, 1 stop bit, F low control Xon/Xof f P ress the ‘Return ’ key (<CR>) and the terminal window sh ould echo a ‘ > ’ if communication is established.
16. SSL Logictivity badge In the upgrade kit you ’ll find a small badge designed to show your console has been upgraded for Logictivity . Carefully attach this badge to the meter -bridge location illustrated below .
