1 SET-UP INSTRUCTION & PR E-OPERA TION CHECKLIST SNA PPER 21" STEEL DECK COMM ERCIA L WA LK BEHIND MOWERS INTRODUCT ION: The SNAPPER Walk Behind M owers are shipped almost fully assembl ed and require minimal set-up. Complete each of the following steps carefully.
2 STEP 5: Install s peed control rod by tilting the lever down in a horizontal position and inser t into the anchor from the side as shown in Figure 5. FIGURE 5 STEP 6: Rotate control rod up to be connected to the speed s ector. Slide f lat washer and spring in front of speed sect or.
3 STEP 8: Check the clearance between the clutch c able and clutch spr ing. NOTE: Clearance between spring and cable is very im portant. Exces sive clearance will cause drive system not to oper ate when wheel drive control handle is depress ed.
4 STEP 10: Install the grass bag adapter and secure to the side of the dec k with the two 5/16-18 nuts (P/N 9- 0951) provided in the hardware bag. See Figure 14. FIGURE 14 STEP 11: KA WASA KI ENGINE. Attach suppor t rod to deck adapter by firs t removing the nut and bolt at the rope guide pulley .
5 STEP 12: Fold bag opening into a "Z" and install slider. See Figure 17. FIGURE 15 STEP 13: Install grass bag on the m ower. Slide bag connector over flange on the bag adapter. Attach grass bag handle to middle handle c ross bar. See Figur e 18.
