4 Section 1 - FA MILIA RIZA TION FIGURE 1 1.1 INTRODUCTION: T his manual covers the recommended operating procedure and routine serv ice requirements on SNA PPER Intermediate Rear Tine T iller. It is recommended t hat all operators of this T iller become thoroughly familiar with the controls and proper opera tion of the unit before operating.
5 Section 2 - OPERA TING INSTRUCTIONS 2.1 BEFORE OPERA TING: Be thoroughly familiar with the operation of ALL controls and how to use them BEF ORE operating y our Tiller. Trans mis sion shifting is done by shifting the W HEEL and TINE SHIFT LEVER into the desired pos ition.
6 Section 2 - OPERA TING INSTRUCTIONS 2.3 STARTING – ST OPPING FIGURE 4 2.4 ENGINE STA RT ING PROCEDURE Step 1: Plac e the W HEEL and TINE SHIFT LEVER in the NEUTRAL pos ition and mak e sure the W HEEL and TINE CO NTROL BAIL is in the r eleased position.
7 Section 2 - OPERA TING INSTRUCTIONS 2.4 ENGINE STA RT ING PROCEDURE Step 3: Briggs Engine - Move ENGINE SPEED CONTRO L to FAST pos ition and turn FUEL VALVE to ON position. See Figur e 6. FIGURE 6 Step 3: Honda E ngine - Move ENGINE SPEED CONTRO L to FAST ( rabbit) position and m ove FUEL VALVE forward to O N position.
8 Section 2 - OPERA TING INSTRUCTIONS 2.6 TRANSPORTING 2.6.1 FORWA RD/REVERSE: To trans port the Tiller to a new tilling site us ing its own power, raise the tines to clear lawn and paved surf aces to prevent gouging.

Spec ify the model and s erial num ber as found on the nameplate of y our T iller when contacting your SNAPPER Dealer for parts or s ervice assis tance.
10 Section 3 - A DJUSTMENTS & REPA IR 3.4 TILL ER TINES Your Snapper Tiller has right hand and left hand tines. Replace both tines if blades becom e bent or are badly worn or otherwise dam aged. Use correct Snapper replacem ent tines. The tines are sec ured to the tine shaft with a shear bolt, Part No.
11 Section 3 - A DJUSTMENTS & REPA IR 3.5.1 TENSION TEST: Start the engine with tiller in neutral. Shif t transm ission into FW D & T ILL and pull the wheel and tine c ontrol bail up against the handle bar . Tines and wheels will start to rotate.
