1-1 Chapter 1: Introduction Overview The T igerSwitch 10/100/10 00, SMC8126PL2-F , is an intell igent Layer 2 switch wit h 26 10/100/1000BASE-T port s, four of which are combination ports * that are sh ared with four SFP transceiver slot s (see Figure 1-1, Ports 21-24).
Introduction 1-2 1 Switch Architecture The SMC8126PL2-F employs a wire-speed, non-blocking switching fabric. This permits simul taneous wi re-speed transport of mult iple packet s at low latency on all ports. I t also features full-duplex cap ability on all port s, which ef fectively dou bles the bandwidth of each connection.
