AXIS P12 14 Network Camer a A ccessing the P r oduct Access from the Internet Once connected, the Axis product is accessible on your local net work (LAN). To access the product from the Internet you m ust con fi gure your network router to allow incoming data traf fi c to the product.
AXIS P12 14 Network Camer a A ccessing the P r oduct Select the power line freq uency (50 Hz or 60 Hz) used at the locat ion o f the Axis product. Selecting the wrong frequency may cause image fl i c k e ri ft h ep r o d u c ti su s e di n fl uorescent light environments.

AXIS P12 14 Network Camer a Media Str eams Note • <ip>= IP addess • The Axis product supports QuickTime 6.5.1 and later. • QuickTime adds latency to the video stream. • It may be possible to use other players to view the H.264 stream using the paths a bove, although Axis does not guarantee this.
AXIS P12 14 Network Camer a Settin g Up the P r oduct Setting Up the Product The A xis p roduct can be con fi gured by users with administrator or operator r ig hts. To open the product’s Setup pages, click Setup in the top right-hand corner of the Live View page.

AXIS P12 14 Network Camer a Video Camera Settings The Video > Camera Settings page provides access to advanced image settings for the Axis product. Image Appearance Increasing the Color level increases the color saturation. The value 100 gives maximum color saturation.

AXIS P12 14 Network Camer a Ev e n ts Events The Axis product can be con fi gured to pe rform actions whe n different events occur, for example, start a recording w he n motion is detected. The set of conditions that de fi nes how and when the action is triggered is called an Action Rule .
AXIS P12 14 Network Camer a Ev e n ts Setting Up an Action Rule An action rule de fi nes the conditions that must be met for the p roduct to pe rfo rm an action, f or examp le record video or send email noti fi cations. If multiple conditions are de fi ned, all must be met to trigger the action.

AXIS P12 14 Network Camer a System Options System Opti ons Security Users User access control is enabled by default and can be con fi gured under System Options > Security > Users . An administrator can set up other users by giving them user names and passwords.
AXIS P12 14 Network Camer a System Options IEEE 802.1X IEEE 802.1X is a standard for port-based Network Admissio n Control p roviding secure authentication of wired and wireless network devices. IEEE 802.1X is based on EAP (Extensible Authentication Protocol).

AXIS P12 14 Network Camer a System Options Advanced TCP/IP Settings DNS Con fi guration DNS (Domain Name Service) provides the translation of host nam es to I P a ddresses. The DNS settings are con fi gured under System Options > Network > TCP/IP > Advanced .
AXIS P12 14 Network Camer a System Options NAT traversal (port mapping) for IPv4 A network router allows de vices on a private network (LAN) to share a single connection to the Internet. This is done by forwa rding network traf fi c from the private network to the “outside”, that is, the Int ernet.
AXIS P12 14 Network Camer a System Options QoS (Quality of Service) QoS (Quality of Service) guarantees a certain level of a speci fi ed resource to selected traf fi c on a network. A QoS-aware network prioritizes network traf fi c and provides a greater network reliability by controlling the amount of bandwidth an application may use.
AXIS P12 14 Network Camer a System Options RTP/H.264 The RTP port range and multicast settings a re con fi gured under System Options > Network > RTP . The RTP port range de fi nes the range of ports from which the video ports are automatica lly selected.
AXIS P12 14 Network Camer a System Options Network Share Network share allows you to add network sto rage such as a NAS (Network Attached Storage) or any server that uses CIFS (Common Internet File System) and use them for storage of recording s. To add a network share: 1.
AXIS P12 14 Network Camer a System Options Click Default to reset all settings, including the IP address, to the factory default values. This button should be used with caution. The Axis product can also be reset to factory d efault using the control button, see Reset to Factory Default Settings on page 40 .

Axis strongly recomm ends that you do not use this function unless y ou understand the consequences. Axis Support does not provide assistance for problem s with custom ized scripts.
AXIS P12 14 Network Camer a T r oubleshootin g Troubleshooting Checking the Firmware Firmware is software that determines the functionality of network devices. One of your fi rst actions when tro ubleshooting a problem should be to check the current fi rmware vers ion.

AXIS P12 14 Network Camer a T r oubleshootin g The IP address has been changed by DHCP IP addresses obtained from a DH CP server are dynamic and m ay cha n ge. If the IP address has been changed, use AXIS IP Utility or AXIS Came ra Management to located the product on the network.
