Introduction Congratulations on your purchase of the Sitecom MD-271 P ortable TV Media Player. The MD-271 Portable T V Media Player supports playback of the most c ommon file formats of digital video, audio and photo media. Attach the media player via standard AV or HDM I cables to a standard or high-definiti on TV.

1 Key Features The key f eatures of MD-271 Po rtable TV Media Player include: • HDMI interfac e for digit al audio and h igh-defin ition vi deo. • Composite interface (RC A, yellow/white/red) for analogue AV connection.
2 Package Contents Open the package carefully, and make sure tha t none of the items listed below are missing. Do not discard the packing materials, in case of return; the unit must be shipped back in its origi nal package.
3 Cautions This player’s design and manufacturer ha s your safet y in mind . In order to safely and effectively use this player, please read the f ollowing before usage. 3.1 Usage Caut ions User should not modify this player. I f commer cial hard disk is b eing used, the environmental temperature should be within +5 ~ +35 degre es Celsius.
3.7 Others When using this player, please do not let the player c ome into contact with water or other liquid, if water is accidentally spil led on the player, please use a dry cloth to absorb the spillage. Electronic products a re vulnerable, when using please avoid shaking or hitting the p layer, and do not pr ess the buttons too ha rd.

Power Connector HDMI Port Composite Port 4.2 Back Panel Item Description Power Conn ector Connect the 5V DC Ada pter to this port. Composite Po rt Use this to connect analogue video and audio r eceivers. HDMI Port Use this to conne ct a digital Televis ion.
4.3 Remote Control Button Function or Descr iption Power Turn the M D-271 on or off. Home Go to the H omepage . Menu Arro ws Use these to select the f ile or menu option you want displayed. Ok Choose the option/action/file that’s currently hi ghligh ted.
Search Go to the Search m enu. Repeat Repeat the playing file. Audio Choose the audio str eam while watching video. Subtitle Choose the subtitle stre am while watching v ideo. Resolution Show the currently use d resolution. Info Show information about the playing fi le.
5 Getting Started Before b eginning the ins tallat ion, please read through the installat ion procedure described in this manual. 5.1 Installation Requirements To begin using the MD-271 Portable TV Media Player, y ou will need: • A television set (TV) with either a HDMI connection or available AV composite cable connections for au dio and video.
• Composite Vide o Plug the suppl ied RCA cable into the A/V port o n the rear panel of the MD-271 and the opposite end of th e cable into the composite video in connector on your TV. • HDMI Vide o Plug the HDMI cable into the HDM I connect or on the back panel of the MD-271.
5.2.3 Connect power to the MD-27 1 Connect the supplied 5V 3A DC adapter to a fre e wall socket. Connect the othe r end to the designated port o n the back of the TV Media Player.
6 Navigating the m enu Once the TV M edia Player is connected and the USB hard disk contains digi tal media files it automati cally begins searching for supported m edia. The TV Media Player can be used while it is sti ll scannin g for content. Tu rn on the TV and direct it to the input used for the TV Media Player to view the main menu interface.
Use this setting to select the video display re solution when using the HDMI interfac e. The default setting is Auto. Note: Full HD quality can be r eceived wh en the mode is set to 1080p. Pl ease note that your TV needs t o be capable of showing this res olution.
6.3 Home M enu Every time you start the syst em, you will see the Hom e Menu. At the Home M enu, use the ar row keys ‘Le ft’ and ‘Right’ buttons to select each item, to enter the item please press ' OK' button. Each item is described as b elow.
In the Photo m enu you can brows e through your phot os and view them. 6.3.4 Movies In the Movies m enu you can brow se through the videos and wat ch them. These are all items in th e Home Menu. In the next chapte rs these items will be described in more detail.
6.4 Settings Menu It is recomm ended to use th e Setup menu befo re first using the system. In the Hom e Menu, use the ‘Left’ and ‘Right’ buttons to select ‘Settings’ and press th e ‘OK’ button to ente r the menu. 6.4.1 System Settings -> System 6.
Press the ‘OK’ button to ente r the multi-langua ge list and use the arrow key ‘Up ’ and ‘Down’ buttons to s elect the language. Pres s the ‘OK’ button to confirm.
You can choos e the different en coding types; Unicode (UTF8), Simplif ied Chinese (GBK), Traditional Chines e (BIG5), Tu rkish, etc. Pr ess the ‘Up’ and ‘Down’ buttons to select the item and press the ‘ OK’ button to confirm. 6.4.1.5 Scree n Saver Settings -> System -> Scr een Saver Enable or disable the scre en saver function.
Auto scan off - s ystem will not scan the storage. Rescan storage – manually scan the storage. Stop scanning storage – do not scan the st orage. Please use the ‘Up ’ and ‘Down’ buttons t o select and pre ss the ‘OK’ button to confirm. 6.
This setting is to switch the “Night Mode”. With this setting you can limi t the maximum volume output. 6.4.2.2 HDMI Outp ut Settings -> Audio -> HDMI Output This setting is to switch the audio output over the HDM I connection.
Settings -> Audio -> SPDIF Output This setting is to switch the Audio SPDIF output. You can choos e betwee n: LCPM – Linear pulse cod e modulation two channel RAW – Audio Raw data. Use the ‘Up’ and ‘D own’ buttons to select an item and press the ‘OK’ button to confirm.
Use this setting to choose screen ratio. You can cho ose between: Pan & Scan 4:3 - 16:9 picture in 4:3 scre en mode with and adjusted ra tio to meet 4:3. Letter Box 4:3 - 16:9 picture in 4:3 screen m ode with the black bars to p and bottom. 16:9 16:10 6.

6.4.3.5 1080P 24HZ Settings -> Video -> 1080P 24HZ If the TV suppo rts 1080P 24HZ, y ou can turn on this option. 6.4.4 MISC Settings -> MISC Various miscellaneous settings. Version Info - S elect this setting to display the current hardware and firmware configuration.

6.5 Music Me nu In the Music menu you can browse thr ough your music files and play them. 6.5.1 Playing Audio Music -> press ‘ OK’ or ‘ Play’ button If you want to play the selected music file, press the ‘OK’ button or the ‘Play’ button to start playback.
You can press the ‘Option’ button to select the ‘Repeat Mode’ du ring playback: Repeat Off Repeat One Repeat All Shuffle Loop 6.
Pressing the ‘Option’ button in the Music brows er will pop up the Option window which can switch the browsing file mode. You have th e following opt ions: Thumbnail List Preview Use the arr ow ‘Up’ and ‘Down’ buttons to select and pre ss the ‘OK’ button to c onfirm.
Music -> Press ‘ Option’ button -> List The Music file browser d isplay fi les as a ‘List’. 6.5.2.4 Previ ew Music -> Press ‘ Option’ button -> Preview Use this option to preview the file information. When you f ocus on a file, it wil l show the information in the preview window on the left.

6.6 Photos M enu In the Photos m enu you can brow se through yo ur photos and view them. 6.6.1 Display & Slide Show Photos -> pre ss ‘OK’ or ‘Play’ button If you want to display the s elected image file or use the slide show in ful l screen, press the ‘ OK’ button or ‘Play’ button to start the ope ration.
During playback, you can press th e ‘Option’ button to change the slide show s ettings. You can use the f ollowing setti ngs: Repeat off – T o Stop Slide Show. Repeat all – To show all files in the play list. Shuffle Loop - Randomly select file in the play li st during Sl ide Show 6.
Change Layout Add to slideshow Use the arr ow ‘Up’ and ‘Down’ buttons to select and pre ss ‘OK’ button to confirm. 6.6.2.1 Slid eshow s etting s Photos -> Pr ess ‘ Option button -> Slideshow settings Here y ou can set the slide transition time from 2 to 30 seconds.
File Thumbnai l – Al l the photos have their thumbnail made from themselves. 6.6.2.6 List Photos -> Pr ess ‘ Option’ button -> Change layout -> List Photos file browse r display files by ‘List’.
6.8 Movies In the Movies m enu you can brow se through yo ur videos and watch them. 6.8.1 Video Player Movies -> pres s ‘OK’ o r ‘Play’ button If you want to play the selected video file in full screen, p ress ‘OK’ button o r ‘Play’ button to start the ope ration.
During playback, you can also press the ‘Option’ button to change playback settings. 6.8.1.1 DVD M enu Movies -> Playback -> press ‘Option’ button -> DVD Menu When playing a DVD, this wil l return you to the DVD main menu.
To set the national language subtitles, you have the following options: Show subtitle Position of subtitles: 0 ~ 640 Font size : 3 ~ 40 Synchronous tuning National language Subtitle c olour Use the arr ow keys ‘Left ’ and ‘Right’ to select the item, ‘Up’ and ‘D own’ to adjust the value.
Use the ‘Up’ and ‘D own’ buttons to select the audio mode and ‘OK’ butt on to confirm. Press ‘R eturn’ to resum e playback. 6.8.1.4 Go to Movies -> Playback -> press ‘Option’ button -> Go to With this funct ion you can time shift to the location you want.
