Congr atulations on purchasing the Meade ® CaptureVie w ® CV -2. CV -2 is an 8 x 30mm full-f eatured binocular . It is integrated with a digital camer a that requires no film to capture pictures or video . This manual is designed to quickly guide y ou through the operation of y our CaptureVie w CV -2.
10 How to Use Y our Binocular Adjust Eye Relief Adjust the Barrels Y ou need to adjust the barrels, as the distance between y our e y es is usually diff erent than the distance between another person’ s ey es . If y ou wear e y eglasses, f old down the rubber ey ecups and hold the e yepieces up against y our glasses .
Focus the Binocular 1. Set the Diopter Scale on underside of CaptureVie w at its center point between “+” and “-. ” 2. Choose an object (such as a telephone pole) that is at least 50 f eet (15m.) a w a y . 3. Looking with onl y y our left e ye , rotate the F ocus Knob until the object y ou are viewing is f ocused.
12 Inser t Batteries Select an Operation 1. Mak e sure camera is off bef ore changing batteries . 2. Push the batter y compar tment lid f orw ard and lift to open. 3. Inser t 2 AAA 1.5v (user-supplied) batteries into the compar tment, noting the correct polarity as illustrated inside the compar tment.
Select Near or F ar Focus 1. Press and hold the Mode button f or 3 seconds to tur n on the camera. 2. The binocular can be focused using the f ocus knob . Howe ver , the camera can be set to Near or F ar f ocus using the f ocus ring, and is not aff ected b y the f ocus knob .
T aking Pictures and V ideo 14 T ake a Still Picture 1. Press and hold the Mode b utton f or 3 seconds to tur n on the camera. The camer a will beep and the camer a icon displa ys on the LCD . The counter , battery life and resolution icons also displa y .
Capture Video 1. Press and hold the Mode b utton f or 3 to 5 seconds to tur n on the cam- era. 2. Press the Mode b utton once and the Video mode icon displa ys . 5. P oint the binoculars at the scene you wish to capture. 4. Press the Shutter button. The camer a no w captures video .
16 Flashback If y ou w ant to ... Do this ... F or e xample, you ma y want to record a baseball pitcher throwing a pitch: 1. Select the Flashback icon. 2. Press the Shutter button to begin recording while the pitcher pre- pares. After the pitcher thro ws the ball, clic k on the Shutter b utton again to tur n off recording.

Y ou’ d like to capture her patented hook shot on video . This is a job f or Flashbac k. Select the Flashbac k icon and press the Shutter b utton as she sets off do wn cour t.
18 Use the Mode and Shutter Buttons Note: If y ou do not perf or m an oper ation f or 60 seconds , the camera automatically s witches off . • Press and hold the Mode button f or 3 to 5 seconds to tur n the camera on or off . • Use the Mode button to cycle through the operation icons .
Use the Camera Mode Change the Camera Resolution H: High Reso lu ti on mode ( 1280 x 1024 ). L: Lo w Resolution mode ( 640 x 480 ). Th e default setting is High Resolution. If y ou w ant to ... 20 Use the Video Mode Note: The length of a movie depends on ho w m uch memor y y ou ha v e av ailable . Audio recor ding is not av ailab le with this camera. Use Flashbac k Note: Flashbac k captures 10 seconds of video . • K eep pressing the Mode button until the Video icon displa ys.
Find Out How Man y Pictures Y ou Ha ve T aken Counter Displa y If y ou w ant to ... Do this ... • Erase Last. K eep pressing the Mode b utton until the Erase Last Image icon displa ys and then press the Shutter b utton. The icon flashes. Press the Shutter b utton again to er ase the last captured image or movie .
22 Operations Use the Self-timer • K eep pressing the Mode button until the Self-timer icon displa ys and press the Shutter b utton. The camera then pauses f or about 10 seconds: It sends out 6 slow and then 6 f ast w ar ning beeps bef ore taking the picture.
Find Out Why CaptureVie w is Beeping Note: When the batter y is low , CaptureVie w sends out six shor t high beeps. It is recommended y ou do wnload the pictures or change the batteries at this time. Y ou ha v e 60 seconds to change the batteries bef ore y our images are deleted.

Other Software The included CD R OM contains other software prog rams b y Ulead that will assist y ou in editing y our images, allo w y ou to transf er images to email, and provide you with other useful functions.
