About this Document This manual is intended for administrators and users of the AXIS A8004-VE Network Video Door Station, and is applicable to rmware 5.60 and later . It includes instructions for using and managing the product on your network. Previous experience of networking will be of use when using this product.
The power supply used with this product shall fulll the requirements for Safety Extra Low V oltage (SEL V) and Limited P ower Source (LPS) according to IEC/EN/UL 60950-1. Battery The Axis product uses a 3.0 V BR/CR2032 lithium battery as the power supply for its internal real-time clock (RTC).

AXIS A8004-VE Network Video Door Station Media Streams The AMC Control P anel can be used to congure various video and audio settings. Please see the AXIS Media Control User’s Manual for more information. The AMC Control P anel is automatically installed on rst use, after which it can be congured.

AXIS A8004-VE Network Video Door Station Set Up the Product Set Up the Product The Axis product can be congured by users with administrator or operator rights. To open the product’s Setup pages, click Setup in the top right-hand corner of the Live View page.
AXIS A8004-VE Network Video Door Station Video and Audio Video and Audio The video and audio settings can be used to optimize video and audio quality . You can congure the following: • Video stream settings. See page 20 . • Stream proles. See page 2 1 .
AXIS A8004-VE Network Video Door Station Video and Audio • Maximum frame rate . T o avoid bandwidth problems, the frame rate allowed to each viewer can be Limited to a xed amount. Alternatively , the frame rate can be set as Unlimited , which means the Axis product always delivers the highest frame rate possible under the current conditions.

AXIS A8004-VE Network Video Door Station Video and Audio Exposure control - This setting is used to adapt to the amount of light used. Automatic is the default setting and can be used in most situations. The shutter speed is automatically set to produce optimum image quality .

It consists of a group of technologies that correct and control audio signals. Common dynamic processing methods include reducing the volume of loud unwanted sounds and amplifying quiet sounds.
AXIS A8004-VE Network Video Door Station Video and Audio Audio Clips An audio clip is a sound le that can be played when events occur or directly from the Live View page. The audio clip must rst be uploaded to the Axis product or recorded by a microphone connected to the product.
AXIS A8004-VE Network Video Door Station V oice over IP (V oIP) V oice over IP (V oIP) V oice over IP (V oIP) is a group of technologies that enables voice communication and multimedia sessions over IP networks. In the Axis product, V oIP is enabled through the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and Dual-T one Multi-Frequency (D TMF) signaling.

STUN is fast because it is lightweight. However , STUN does not allow incoming messages from symmetric NA Ts, and it cannot communicate with a peer behind the same NA T device.

AXIS A8004-VE Network Video Door Station PTZ (Pan Tilt Zoom) PTZ (Pan Tilt Zoom) The PTZ menu is available if digital PTZ (pan, tilt and zoom) is enabled in the selected view area.

AXIS A8004-VE Network Video Door Station Detectors Detectors Camera T ampering Camera T ampering can generate an alarm whenever the camera is repositioned, or when the lens is covered, sprayed or severely defocused. To send an alarm, for example an email, an action rule must be set up.

Applications add functionality to the product, for example video analytics and intelligent video capabilities such as recognition, tracking, detection and counting.

AXIS A8004-VE Network Video Door Station Events Events The Event pages allow you to congure the Axis product to perform actions when different events occur . For example, the product can start a recording or send an email notication when motion is detected.
AXIS A8004-VE Network Video Door Station Events To use more than one trigger for the action rule, select Additional conditions and click Add to add additional triggers. When using additional conditions, all conditions must be met to trigger the action.
AXIS A8004-VE Network Video Door Station Events - Virtual Inputs – can be used by a VMS (Video Management System) to trigger actions. Virtual inputs can, for example, be connected to buttons in the VMS user interface. • PTZ - Moving – T rigger the rule when the camera view moves due to a PTZ operation.
AXIS A8004-VE Network Video Door Station Events • Status LED – Flash the LED indicator . This can for example be used to validate triggers such as motion detection during product installation and conguration. • Stop Audio Clip – Stops playing a recorded audio clip when the Action rule is triggered.

AXIS A8004-VE Network Video Door Station Events To use the recurrence in an action rule, rst select Time from the T rigger drop-down list in the Action Rule Setup page and then select the recurrence from the second drop-down list. To modify or remove recurrences, select the recurrence in the Recurrences List and click Modify or Remove .
AXIS A8004-VE Network Video Door Station Recordings Recordings The Axis product can be congured to record video continuously or according to an action rule: • To start a continuous recording, see page 53 . • To set up action rules, see page 46 .
AXIS A8004-VE Network Video Door Station Recordings To play a recording, follow these steps: 1. Go to Recordings > List . 2. T o reduce the number of recordings displayed, select the desired options under Filter and click the Filter button to apply the lters.

AXIS A8004-VE Network Video Door Station System Options System Options Security Users User access control is enabled by default and can be congured under System Options > Security > Users . An administrator can set up other users by giving them user names and passwords.

Bonjour is enabled by default and the product is automatically detected by operating systems and clients that support this protocol. Bonjour can be disabled under System Options > Network > Bonjour .
AXIS A8004-VE Network Video Door Station System Options The Axis product can be congured to automatically format SD cards that are inserted into the product. If autoformat is enabled and an SD card is inserted, the product will check if the SD card has the ext4 le system.
