Page 1 INTRODUCTION The In-Transit FlashLink Dat a Logger is a si ngle use instr ument desig ned with a unique, pat ented com munications feature vi a the PC’s paral lel port, which allows an extre mely fast dat a download (typically 760 data poi nts per second).

Page 3 Data Logger Features • Non-volatile data memory – data can be recovered after power loss. • Standard 25-p in connector for downlo ading data to the PC; communicates with PC through parallel printer port. (Optional Serial Port Adapter Available) • Green and re d LEDs indicate whether the data logger is in active mode or alarm mode.
Page 4 SETUP Minimum PC Requirements IBM (or compatible) 486 with 4 megabytes of memory. The In-Transit FlashLink Soft ware runs on all version s of Windows (3. 1, 95, 98, 2000, ME, XP and NT). It will also run on Windows L AN servers if the “client computers” use Windows 3.

Page 12 Windows XP To check your port settings in Windo ws XP, do the following: 1. Go to “Start”. 2. Choose “Control Panel”. 3. Choose “Administrative Tools”. 4. Choose “Com puter Managem ent” 5. Double click “Device Manage r” in the left quadrant.
Page 13 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS Starting the Data Logger The data log ger must be start ed by the shipper by inserting a ballpoint pen or other small blunt object into the start switch hole on the front of the data logger. The green LED will flash rapi dly three times to indicate it started.
Page 14 Menu Bar F ile O pen Data File: Open an ex isting (previously saved) data fi le on the computer. D ownload Data: Download data from a data logger to the PC. Proceed to page 15. V iew Current Status: Check the status of the data logger. Proceed to page 26.
Page 15 Enter the file name for your logo (it must be in .bmp format). Your logo will appear on the printed reports, if desired. Enter your company name Click to select or de- select actions. The selections may be changed at any time after starting the program.
Page 16 Auto Backup Data files are automatically saved when they are downloaded. The directory is named Databack, and is automatically created in the program’s “Flash” directory with your f irst download.
Page 17 Download Data Downloading c an be done several ways. C onnect the data logger t o the data cable and do one of the following. • Click on the Data Logger illustrated on th e Main Screen, or • Select File, Download Data, or • Click the icon.
Page 18 Time Zone Map Time zone i nformation i s based on G reenwich M ean Time (GMT), also kn own as Coordinated Universal Time. The fiel d wil l accept decimals for those areas with fractional time zones. 1. Choose either “Shipper” or “Receiver” classification for the time zone of your data, grap hs, printouts, et c.
Page 19 Data Tag Information 1. Enter the data tag information. It can be edited later, if desired. 2. Click Next to start the download. Note: The Receiver field must be filled in before downlo ading will start u nless the “One Click Download” option is sel ected in the “Customize” screen.

Page 27 Current Status Screen The Current Status Screen allows you t o check a data logge r’s status with out disturbing t he operation. If the loggin g interval i s 20 seconds or less, the tim e data will be off by one second. Select F ile, V iew Current Status, or click on the icon .
Page 28 Email You can send a file attached to an email messag e without leaving the FlashLink Program Manager program if you have access to t he internet. You can also attach a data file using your own em ail program. Before you can email a file from within the FlashLink Program Manager you will be asked to enter in your Mail Account Information.
