3 Safety precautions Not all of the functions described in this manual are available in all countries. W Read this manual and the safe ty precautions carefully befor e use. Explain their content to your children, and the potential hazards associated with using the telephone.
4 Setting up the telephone f or use Connecting the base station ◆ Insert the round jack on the mains cable in to the socke t on the underside of the base. ◆ Position cable in the cable recess (for strain relief). ◆ Plug the powe r supply unit int o your pow er outlet.
5 Setting up the handset for use The displa y is pr ot ect ed by a pl astic film. Re mov e the pro tectiv e plastic film! Remove the coloured label fr om the bag containing the batteries and stick it to the top of the handset (see illustration on page 1).
6 Charging batteries Leave the handse t in the base for appr ox. five hours to char ge the batteries. Y ou r unit is now ready to use and you can make calls. After initial charging, you can return your handset to the base after every call. Charging is controlled electr onically.
7 Calling Line Identification (CLIP) When you receive a call, the calle r's telephone number is displayed in the display . Precondition s: 1. Y ou hav e asked your ne twork provider to displa y the caller ’s telephone number in your display (CLIP).
8 Editing an entr y Deleting an entry Caller list The caller lis t contains the l ast 10 missed c alls. I f it i ncludes new entries the Û symbol flash es in idle status. Dialling from caller list or deleting an entr y New entries in the caller list are indicated by the j symbol in the t op left of the display .
9 Cutt ing into an exter nal ca ll At least two handsets are register ed on the base. Y ou are conducting an external call. An internal pa rty ca n can cut into this cal l and take par t in the conversation. This is indicated by a signal tone. Precondition : The BARGE IN function is a ctiva ted (idle stat us: On).
10 Manually registering Giga set A 11 handsets. Y ou can regist er up to three Giga set A 11 handsets on y our Gigase t A 110. Howe ver , int ernal call s betw een th e handse ts ar e no t pos sible.
11 Handset settings Setting t he handse t volu me The loudspeaker volume can be set during a call or af ter pressing the talk key and the ringer volume can be set during ringing using the s key. Setting ringer v olume and ringer melodies using the menu The ringer volume can also be set while the phone is ringing using the s key.

14 Contact with liquid If the handset should come into contact with liquid, on no account sw itch the device on. R emove all batteri es immediately . Allow the liquid to drain out of the device, and then pat all parts of the device dr y . K eep the handset with the batt eries remov ed in a warm, dr y place for at least 72 hours.
