9 AXIS 207/207W - Accessing the Camera Accessing the Camera Before accessi ng the camera it must be installed. Please see the installation guide supplied with your product.
10 AXIS 207/207W - Accessin g the Camera Setting the Password 1. When accessing th e camera for the first time, the ‘ Configure Root P assword ’ dialog will be displayed on the screen. 2. Enter a password and then re-enter it, to confirm the spelling.
11 AXIS 207/207W - Accessing the Camera Focusing Status Indicator Focus Ring To focus: Open a br owser and examine the image. If required, adjust the focus ring until the focus is satisfactory.
12 AXIS 207/207W - Accessin g the Camera AMC audio controls There are audio controls for controlling the client computer’s sp eaker output. These controls are only available in MPEG-4 vide o format and when audio is enabled, see Audio Settings, on page 19 .
13 AXIS 207/207W - Video Streams Video Streams The AXIS 207/AXIS 207W provides several diffe rent image and video stream formats. The type to use depends on you r requirements and on the properties of your network.
14 AXIS 207/207W - Video Streams MPEG-4 clients AXIS Media Co ntrol (AMC) The recommended method of accessing live video (MPEG-4 and Motion JPEG) from the AXIS 207/AXIS 207W is to use the AXIS Media Control (AMC) in Microsoft Internet Explorer in Windows.

16 AXIS 207/207W - Configuration Configuration This section describes how to configure the camera, and is intended for product Administrators, who have unrestricted acce ss to all the Setup tools, and Operat ors , who have access to the settings for Video & Im age, Audio, Live View Config and Event Configuration.
17 AXIS 207/207W - Confi guration Video and Image settings Image Ap pearance Use these settings to change the image as required. The video image can be rotated and fine-tuned by adjusting the color level, the brightness and the sharpness.
18 AXIS 207/207W - Configuration Video Stre am Define the maximum video stream time per session in seconds, min utes or hours, or se t it as unlimited. When the set time has expired, a new stream can be started by refreshing the page in the browser. Note th at the maximum video stream ti me does not apply to clients connecting via multicast.
19 AXIS 207/207W - Confi guration Advanced - MPEG-4 Settings GOV Settings The GOV structure describe s th e composition of the MPEG-4 video stream. Setting the GOV-length to a high value saves considerably on bandwidth. The Cyclic refresh parameter gives a smoother bit rate and can be useful if bandwidth is limited.
20 AXIS 207/207W - Live View Con fig Live View Config Layout These are the tools for deciding the layout of the Live View page. The layout can be set in 3 ways: • Use Axis look - the layout is unchanged. • Use custom settings - modify the Axis look , with your own colors, images etc.
21 AXIS 207/207W - Live View Config Customizing the default page The appearance of the default Live View page can be customized to suit your own requirements, or you can upload and use your own home page. To upload you r own file s, click the Upload/Remove button and see the description below.
22 AXIS 207/207W - Live View Con fig Action Buttons The manual trigger buttons can be used to manually trigger and stop an event from the Live View page. See Event Configuration, on page 24 . Enabling the display of the Snapshot button allows users to save a snapshot from the video stream by clicking the butt on.
23 AXIS 207/207W - Live View Config AMC Settings The administrator can disable the installation of the MPEG-4 decoder included with AMC. This is used to prevent the installation of unlicensed copies. Furt her decoder licenses can be purchased from your Axis dealer.
24 AXIS 207/207W - Event Configuration Event Configuration An event in the AXIS 207/207W is when a trigger is activated, causing a certain action to be performed. The event is th e set of pa rameters (or condit ions) that specifies how and when which actions will be performed.
25 AXIS 207/207W - Event Configuration Pre-trigger and P ost -trigger buffers - This function is useful when chec king to see what happened immediately before and/or after a trigger , e.
26 AXIS 207/207W - Event Configuration Motion Detection The motion detection feat ure is used to gene rate an alarm whenever movement occurs (or stops) in the video image.
27 AXIS 207/207W - Event Configuration Examples: • Avoid triggering on small objects in the video image by setting the object size level to high. • To reduce the number of triggers if there is a lot of movement during a short period of time, select a high history level.
28 AXIS 207/207W - System Options System Options Security User access control is enabled by defa ult. An administrator can se t up other users, by giving these user names and passwords.
29 AXIS 207/207W - System Options Use the predefined formats or use your ow n custom date and time formats. See Advanced File Naming & Date/Time Formats in the online help for information on how to create your own file formats.
30 AXIS 207/207W - System Options Obtain DNS se rver address via D HCP - automatically use the DNS server settings provided by the DHCP server. Click the View button to see th e curren t settings.
31 AXIS 207/207W - System Options Use NAT traversal when your AXIS 207/207W is locate d on an intranet (LAN) and you wish to make it available from the other (W AN) side of a NAT router. With NAT traversal properly configured, all HTTP traffic to an ex ternal HTTP port in the NAT router will be forwarded to the camera.
32 AXIS 207/207W - System Options RTSP The RTSP protocol allows a connecting client to start an MPEG-4 stream. Enter the RTSP port number to use. Th e default setting is 554. Network Traffic Connection Type - The default setting is Auto -negotiate, which mean s that the correct speed is automatically selected.
33 AXIS 207/207W - System Options Leaving this field blank means the AXIS 207W will attempt to access the nearest open network. Note: SSID is sometimes written as ESSID.
34 AXIS 207/207W - System Options UPnP™ The camera includes support for UPnP ™ , which is enabled by default. If also enabled on your computer, the camera will automatically be detected and a new icon will be added to “My Network Places.” Note: UPnP must also be enabled on your Windows XP or ME computer.
35 AXIS 207/207W - System Options Backup - To take a backup of all of the parameters , and any user-defined scripts, click this button. If necessary, it will then be possible to return to the previous se ttings, if settings are changed and there is unexpected behavior.

39 AXIS 207/207W - Troubleshooting Troubleshooting Checking the Firmware Firmware is software that de termines the functi onality of the AXIS 207/207W. One of your first actions when troubleshooting a problem sh ould be to ch ec k th e cu rr ently installed firmware version.
40 AXIS 207/207W - Troubleshooti ng Emergency Recovery Procedure If power or th e net work connection to the came ra is lost during th e upgrade, the process will fail and the unit will become unresponsi ve. A flashing red Status LED indicates a failed upgrade.
