MAINS PLUG WIRING INSTRUCTIONS This equipment is fitted with a mou lded type mains plug which i ncorp orates a detachable fuse cov er , under no circumstances should the plug be used without th e fuse cov er fitted.

Loading Printing Pap er 14 Loading Printing P aper Y ou can load up to 50 sheets of A4-size paper (60 - 80 g/m 2 ) in the paper tray (at room temperature; maximum stack height should not be higher than the line on the tray). 1 Fan the paper , and then tap the edge against a flat surface to even the stac k.

In the ev ent that the display sho ws either of the above messages , you must clear the error before installing the print car tridge. T he error can usually be cleared by pressing , or if a paper jam has occurred, by removing the paper jam (see page 129).

Requirements: T o use this feature , you must: ♦ Subscribe to Br itish T elecom SMS ser vice. The telephone number of the British T elecom SMS Center has been preset in the machine.

A maximum of 160 characters can be entered in one message. ♦ When sending a message, you can manually enter the full phone number of the recipient, or select the number from your list of auto-dial numbers.

Receiving F axes Using TEL/F AX Mode When the reception mode is set to TEL/F AX, your fax machine automatically answ ers all calls on one rin g (the number of rings can be changed as explained on page 89). After answering, your f ax monitors the line for about five seconds to see if a f ax tone is being sent.

Optional Reception Settings 94 Reception Ratio The machine has been set at the factor y to automati cally reduce the size of received documents to fit the size of t he printing paper. This ensures that data on the edges of the document are not cu t off.
Substitute Re ception to Me mor y 95 5. Receiving Fa x e s Substitute Reception to Memory In situations where printing is not possible, such as when your f ax runs out of paper , the prin t car tr idge needs replacement, or the pape r jams, incoming f axes will be received to memory .
