1 Introduction This installation, administ ration and user’s guide prov ides background inform ation and procedures for installing, configuring and maint a ini ng the Cyclades ® Power Management (PM) Intelligent Power Distributi on Un it (IPDU) family.
2 Cyc lades PM IPDU Installer/Administrator/User Guide Integration with A vocent management product s The PM IPDU can be combined with an ACS c onsole server or DSR KV M switch to provide enhanced functionality.
Chapter 1: Introduction 3 NOTE: The installation example displays the PM IPDU being connected with the RJ-45 to DB-9F adaptor that is shipped with the product. If the unit you are connected to does not have a DB-9M COM port, you may use a USB serial adaptor and connect to a USB port when possible.

5 Installation Getting S tarted Collect the following equip ment prior to installing and con fig uring the PM IPDU in standalone configuration: • One or more RJ-45 to RJ-45 straight-through cables .

Chapter 2: Installat ion 7 Inst allation environment When installing the PM IPDU, ensure that the following environment sp ecifications are met. NOTE: Install a PM IPDU 0U model in a location wher e there is an adjacen t and accessible socket outlet. CAUTION: The plug on the power cord of the PM IPDU is used as the disconnect device.

Chapter 2: Installat ion 9 T o daisy chain a PM IPDU: This procedure assumes that a main PM IPDU is already connected to a workstation or management appliance. 1. Connect one end of an RJ-45 cable to the OUT port of the main PM IPDU, which is connected to a workstation or management appliance.

Chapter 2: Installation 11 T o assign outlet s to users with the assign command: 1. Log in to the PM IPDU. 2. Enter the assign command followed by the outlet number(s) and username. Example: T o name the outlet s with the name command: 1. Log in to the PM IPDU.

Using terminal em ulation software, log into th e PM IPDU as admin and type in the command: The <IPDU#> is the number of the IPDU to wh ich you want to upg rade the firmware.
13 Accessing the PM IPDU via the Command Line Interface When using the PM IPDU i ndependently of other Cyclades products , users and administrators may access the PM IPDU command line interface th rough a terminal emulation program.

You should find there the most important technical data Avocent PM IPDU - thus you can check whether the hardware meets your expectations. When delving into next pages of the user manual, Avocent PM IPDU you will learn all the available features of the product, as well as information on its operation. The information that you get Avocent PM IPDU will certainly help you make a decision on the purchase.
