Connecti ons 13 1. Installation Connecting t he power cor d Plug the power cord into a 1 20 V , 60 Hz, grounded AC (3-pr ong) outlet . Caution! Do not plug the power cord in to any other kind of outlet. This will damage the machine and is not covered und er the warra nty .

Install ing the Tone r Cartridg e 17 1. Installation Installi ng the T oner Car tridge The laser printer i n your fax machi ne uses a toner c artridge an d a drum cartridg e. The drum c artridge comes p re-instal led, a nd the toner cartri dge must be installed.

Loading P rinting Paper 21 1. Installation Loading Printing P aper Y ou can load up to 200 sheets of letter , A4 or legal pape r (max. 20 lbs. ) in the pape r tray . Caution! Do not use the blank sid e of paper that h as already be en printed on. 1 If you ar e going to lo ad legal size paper , pull out th e paper tray extensi on.

Important: Be sure to load the paper so t hat printing takes p lace on the print side of the paper .

Sending Documents Err or Correction Mode The fa x machine is se t to automatica lly correct any distort ions in a transmis sion due to no ise on the tele phone line bef ore printing at the receivi ng end. This fu nction is ca lled Error Correct ion Mode (ECM).

Using FAX Mode 68 Changing the n umber of rings If desire d, you can change the number of ring s on which the fax machine answers incoming calls in F AX mode. Any number from 1 to 5 can be s elected. 1 Press these keys: The displ ay will show: 2 Enter th e desired numbe r of rings (any number from 1 to 5) .

Substit ute Recepti on to Memo ry 75 3. Receiving Documents Substitute Reception to Memory In situ ations where print ing is not possi ble, such as when your fax runs out of paper , the toner cartridge needs replacement , or the paper jams, inc om ing faxes will be received to memory .
