Connecti ons 17 1. Installation Connecting t he power cord Plug the power cord into a 2 30-240 V , 50 Hz, earthed (3-prong) AC outlet . Caution: When disconnect ing the fax, unplug the telephone line cord before unpluggi ng the power lead. ♦ The mains outlet (socket-ou tlet) s hould be inst alled nea r the equip- ment and b e easily accessable.

Loadin g the The rmal Pap er 23 1. Installation Replacing t he thermal paper When the pap er runs out, OUT OF P APER will appear in the displ ay . Receptio n and copyin g will no l onger be possi ble. T o replace the paper , first take out the old roll , then load the new roll as described above.

64 5. Making T elephone Calls Y our fax mach ine can be used like a regular telephone t o make and receiv e voice calls. ♦ T o make or re ceive a voice ca ll, the power must be on. 1 Pick up t he handset or press the SPEAKER key . Listen for t he dial tone.
