LOADING PAPER 2-5 2 Setting the pape r type and pape r size Foll ow these steps to change the pap er type se tting if the pap er type is ch anged in eith er paper tray . For the paper types that can be used in each tray, see page 2 -3. 1 Press the [CUSTOM SETTIN GS] key.
LOADING PAPER 2-6 7 Select the size of paper that w as loaded in the tray. Touc h the appropr iate keys (checkbo xes). 8 Touch the [OK] key in the size setting screen. You will return to the tray setting scr een of s tep 4. 9 Select output functions that can be used with the sel ected tray.

LOADING PAPER 2-11 2 Loading paper in the stand/ MPD & 2000 sheet paper drawer Upper paper tray: The up per paper t ray is equ ivalent to th e multi p urpose d rawer. The me thod of loa ding pape r and the paper that c an be used are the sam e as for the m ulti purpos e drawer.

2-15 2 REPLACING THE TONER CARTRIDGE When tone r runs low, a message wi ll appea r to inform you that th e toner cartr idge must be replaced. Follow t he steps bel ow to replac e the toner cartridge. 1 Open the front cover. 2 Lower the cartridge lock lever.

2-23 2 TROUBLESHOOTING Check the followin g troublesh ooting li st before requesting servi ce as many problems c an be fix ed by the us er. If you are unabl e to solve the problem by ch ecking the l ist, turn of f the power switch, u nplug the power cord .

3-2 DUPLEX MODULE If a duple x module is ins talled, prin ting onto b oth sides of paper c an be per formed. Two typ es of dup lex modu les are av ailable: duplex m odule/by pass tray and duple x module . The des criptions i n this manual are for the dupl ex module/b ypass tray.
DUPLEX MODULE 3-3 3 Loading paper in the bypass tray The by pass tray can be used for plain paper an d special pa per incl uding lab els. Up to 100 sheets of stan dard paper can be set. For pa per types t hat can be used in the b ypass tray, r efer to page 2-3.
DUPLEX MODULE 3-4 Troubleshootin g (concerning the duplex mod ule) Check th e list belo w before c alling for se rvice. Problem Check Solution or cause The machine wil l not print du plex pri nts. 3-5 3 MAIL-BIN STACKER The mai l-bin stack er has 7 mail bi ns which can ea ch be desig nated to receiv e printed outpu t from a user or a group of users . Output p aper in the copy mode and the fax mo de will be deli vered to the top tray of the stacker separated fr om print ed output.
MAIL-BIN S TACKER 3-6 Misfeed in the mail-bin stacke r If a mis feed has o ccurred in th e mail-bin stacke r during pri nting, re move the mis fed paper following th e proced ure below. 1 Open the top c over. Move the tab in the direction of the arrow as shown in the illustrati on to open the top co ver.

As a selec tion is ma de, the touch key for the se lection wi ll be highli ghted.
FINISHER 3-10 Staple cartridge replac ement When th e staple cartrid ge becom es empt y, the m essage "Add stapl es." will appear in the me ssage d isplay of the operati on panel. Follow the procedu re below to r eplace the s taple ca rtridge.

FINISHER 3-12 Misfeed in the finisher When a mi sfeed occu rs in the fi nisher, r emove the misfed pa per followi ng the pro cedure below. 1 Remove the misfed paper from the output area. Be careful not to tea r the misfed pa per during remo val . 2 Open the finisher top cov er.

SADDLE STITCH FINISHER 3-21 3 9 Turn roller rotating knob A in t he direction of the arrow to move the stapl e unit to the front. Turn the roll er rotating knob un til the triangle mark is a ligned with the index. 10 Remove the staple box. 11 Raise the le ver at the end of th e staple box.
SADDLE STITCH FINISH ER 3-22 Misfeed in the saddle stitch finisher When a m isfeed occ urs in the s addle stitc h finisher , remove th e misfed p aper followi ng the proc edure below. 1 Press the detach button and separate the saddle stitch finisher from the machine.
SADDLE STITCH FINISHER 3-23 3 10 Open the front cover . 11 Rotate roller rotating knob D in the direction of the ar row. 12 Remove any misfed paper from the saddle stitch tray. Remove the pap er gently, ta king care not to tear it. 13 Close the cover of th e saddle stit ch section.

Storing a frequently used origin al size saves you th e trouble o f manually s etting the s ize each time you copy th at size of do cument.
