INTRODUCTION This man ual explai ns how to i nstall and c onfigur e the softwa re that is req uired for the printe r function of the machine. T he procedure for view ing the onlin e manua l is also explained.

2 SOFTWARE FOR THE SHARP AR-M230/M270 SERIES The CD-RO M that accom panies th e machin e contains t he followi ng software: • Printer dri ver The printe r driver en ables yo u to use the p rinter func tion of the machine .
3 INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE STANDARD INSTALLATION (USB only) The proc edure for a standar d installati on of the soft ware is exp lained be low. If the m achine is connec ted by a USB cable, i t is recom mended that you use the standard install ation. 1 The USB cable must not be connected to the mac hine.
4 INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE 9 Make su re that the power of the machine is turned on, and the n connect the US B cabl e. ( p. 12) Windows will detec t the machine and the Plug an d Play sc reen will ap pear. 10 Begin installation of the printer driver. "SHARP AR-XXXX" will appear in the "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog box.

Use the custom install ation proce dure when the machine is conne cted b y a parall el cable , when the m achin e is used a s a shar ed printe r on a netw ork, or whe n install ing the PC- FAX driver .
6 INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE 10 When you are aske d how the printer is conne cted, select " Connected t o this computer " and click the "Next" button. 11 A confirmation window appears. Check the co ntents and t hen click th e "Next" button.
7 INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE Installation in Windows 98/Me/2000 (USB cable) 1 The USB cable must not be connected to the mac hine. Make sure that the cable is not connected before proceeding. If the cable is connec ted, a Plug and Play window will appear.

9 INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE Installation in Windows 95/9 8/Me/NT 4.0/2000 (Parallel cable) 1 The parallel cable must not be conne cted to the mach ine. Make s ure that th e cable is n ot connected before proceeding. If the cable is connec ted, a Plug and Play window will appear.
10 INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE 11 When th e interface s election scr een appears , select " Parallel" and click the "Next" button. 12 Select the printer p ort and click t he "Next" button. Selec t "LPT1" for the printer port.
11 INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE INSTALLING THE PC-FAX DRIVER 1 The USB or parallel cable must not be conne cted to the mach ine. Make s ure that th e cable is n ot connected before proceeding. If the cable is c onnected, a Plug and P lay window wi ll appear.
12 CONNECTING TO A COMPUTER Follow the proced ure below to connect th e machin e to your computer. Interfac e cables for c onnectin g the machine t o your comp uter are not i ncluded with t he machin e. Please purch ase the ap propriate c able for y our computer.
13 CONFIGURING THE PRINTER DRIVER After i nstalling t he printer driver, you must conf igure the printer dri ver setting s appro priately fo r the numb er of paper t rays on the machine and the si ze of paper loaded in each tr ay.
14 HOW TO USE THE ONLINE MANUAL The on line ma nual provi des detail ed instruc tions fo r operati ng the ma chine as a printe r. 15 TROUBLESHOOTING If the software does not instal l correctly , check the followin g items on y our compute r. To re move the soft ware, see "Uninsta lling the printer dri ver" in th e online m anual.
