1 INTRODUCTION This manual explains how to install and configure the softw are that is required for the printe r and scanner functio ns of the machine.
2 SOFTWARE FOR THE SHARP AR-M160/M205 The CD-ROM that accompanie s the machine c ontains the following software: MFP driver Printer driver The printer driver enables you to use the printer function of the machin e.
3 BEFORE INSTALLATION HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS Check the following hardware and softwar e requirements befor e installing the softwar e. *1 The machine's USB 2.0 port will transfer dat a at the speed specifie d by the USB 2.0 (Hi-Speed) only if the Microsoft USB 2.
4 INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE INSTALLATION IN WINDOWS XP (USB/PARALLEL CABLE) 1 The USB or paralle l cable must not be connected to the m achine. Make sure that the cable is not connected before proceeding. If the cable is connected, a Plug and Play window will appear.
5 INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE 7 The files required for installation of the MFP driver are copied (if "MFP Driver" was selected in Step 5). Follow the on-screen instructions. When you are asked how th e printer is connected, select "Connected to this computer" and clic k the "Next" button.
6 INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE INSTALLATION IN WINDOWS 98/ME/2000 (USB CABLE) 1 The USB cable must not be connected to the mach ine. Make sure that the ca ble is not connected before proceeding. If the cable is connected, a Plug and Play window will appear.
7 INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE 8 Begin the installa tion of Button Manager (if "Button Manager" was selected in Step 5). Follow the on-screen instructions. Click the "Finish" button when the message informs you that se tup is successful.

9 INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE 10 Select the printer port and click the "Next" button. Select "LPT1" for the printer port. 11 When asked to select the printer driver to install, select the appropriate printer driver based on whether or not the dual function boar d is installed, and then click t he "Next" button.
10 CONNECTING TO A COMPUTER Follow the procedure below to connec t th e machine to your computer. Interface cables for connectin g the machine to your compute r are not included with the machine. Plea se purchase the appropriate cable for your compute r.
11 CONNECTING TO A COMPUTER CONNECTING A PARALLEL CABLE 1 Ensure that your computer and the machine are turned off. 2 Plug the cable into the parallel port on the machine, and fasten with the cla sps. 3 Plug the other end of the cable into your computer's parallel port.
12 SETTING UP BUTTON MANAGER Button Manager is a so ftware program that works with the scanner dri ver to enable scanning from the operation panel of the machine. To scan using the operation panel of the ma chine, Button Manager must be linked with the scan menu keys on the machine.
13 SETTING UP BUTTON MANAGER Windows 98/Me/2000 1 click the "Start" button, select "Settings", and then click "Control Panel". 2 Double-click the "Scanners and Cameras" icon. 3 Select "AR-XXXX", and click the "Properties" button.
14 HOW TO USE THE ONLINE MANUAL The Online Manu al provides detailed instructions for operat ing the machine as a printer or scann er.
