SAFETY General Safety I nstructions A nd Practices A c areful operator i s the best operator. Safety is of pr imary impo rtance to the manufactur er and sho uld be to the owner/operator. Most acc idents can b e avoided b y being aware of your equ ipment, your surroundings, and observing certain precautions.
SAFETY Operator Safety I nstructions and Practices The rotating parts of this machine continue to rotate even after th e PTO ha s been turned off . The operator sho uld remain in his s eat for 60 seconds after the brake has been set, the PTO di sengaged, t he tr actor turned off, and all evidence of rotation has ceased .
SAFETY Never al low children t o play on or around Tractor or Implement. Childre n can sl ip or fall off t he Equipment and be injured or killed. Children can caus e the Implement to s hift o r fall crushing themselves or others. (SG- 25) NEVER u se drugs or alcohol immedia tely be fore or while o perating the T ra ctor and Implement.
SAFETY Do no t put hands or feet under mower d ecks. Blade Contact can result in serious in jury or even death. Stay away until all motion has stopped and the decks are securely blocked up. (SGM-09) SAFETY Always keep a careful lookout and use extreme care when working around uti lity and municipal obstructions.
SAFETY BEFORE l eaving the tractor seat, always set the parking brake and/or set the t ractor transmission in parking gear, disengag e the PTO, stop the e ngine, remove the k ey, and wait for all m oving p arts to stop. Place the tractor shift l ever into a low range or parking gear to p revent the tractor from rolling.
SAFETY In addi tion to th e instructions descri bed in th e manual follow all general safe ty and accident p revention rules. Before operating the machine or performin g maintenance read and understand the instructions. The labels affixed to the machine call attention to safety precauti ons that shall be followed.
SAFETY Do not get on the machine or allows riders while the machine is in operation. SAFETY After h itching m ake sure that the drive shaft i s ins talled properly. M ak e s ure that the drive shaft guards are in good conditions. Replace worn or damaged drive shaft guards.
SAFETY Never run the Tractor engine in a closed building or without adequate ventilation. The exhaust fumes can be hazardous to your health. (SG-23) Do not exceed th e rated PTO speed for the Implement. Excessive PTO s peeds can cause Implement driveline or blade failures resulting i n serious injury or death.
SAFETY The rotating p arts of this m achine have been designed and test ed for rugged use. However, the blades could fail upon impact with he avy, solid objects such as metal guard rails and concrete structures. Such impact could cause the bro ken objects to be thrown outward at very high velocities.
SAFETY Follow these guidelines to reduce the risk of equipment a nd grass f ires while operating, servicing, and repai ring the Mow er and Tractor: -Equip the Tractor with a fire extinguishe r in an accesible location. -Do Not operate the Mower on a Tractor with an underframe exhaust.
SA FETY Disc Mow e rs ro tate at a very h igh rate of speed (3000 RPM). Vibration due to missing, broken, or unbalanced components may cause serious imbalance an d lead to rapid failu re o f components and possible bodil y injury from components failure or th rown objects.
SAFETY This Im plement may b e wider tha n the Tractor. Be careful when operating or transporting this equipment to p revent the I mpl ement from running into or striking sign po sts, guard rails, concrete abutments or other s olid objects.
SA FETY Only tow the Implement behind a properly s ized a nd equipped Tractor which exceeds the w ei ght of the Implement by at least 20 %. DO NOT to w the Implement behind a tru ck or other type of vehicle. Never tow the Implement and another Implement connected i n tandem.

4 Industrial/Agricultural Mower T ypes Mowers are used for pastur e clipping, crop residue shredding, heavy brush cutting, waterways, right-of- ways, roadside or highway mowing. Also, these mowers are used for cutting grass and other gr owth in public areas such as parks and cemeteries.
5 Follow A Safety Program Protect Y ourself W ear personal protective clothing and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) issued to you or called for by job conditions.
6 Follow A Safety Program Avoid Injury Fr om Raised Equipment Avoid possible crushing injury fr om falling mower or other raised equipment. Before working near or under raised mower or equipment parts: — Securely support or block up raised mower or equipment parts according to the operator’ s manual.
7 Follow A Safety Program Be Alert! Know where to get assistance. Know how to use a rst aid kit and re extinguisher/ re suppr ession system.
8 Follow A Safety Program Some Rules Y ou Must Work By (continued) — Only quali ed and authorized individuals may operate this equipment. — Never allow children to play on, ride on or operate the equipment. Children ar e not quali ed to operate this equipment.
9 Prepare For Safe Operation Check The Mower And T ractor Equipment Before beginning your work day inspect the machine and have all systems in good operational condition. WARNING! Pr event possible crushing injury from falling equipment. Hydraulic system or part failure could cause unsupported equipment to fall.
10 Prepare For Safe Operation Know The W ork Area Before you operate the mower thor oughly inspect the work area. W alk around the ar ea and inspect the surfaces you will travel on when using the mower .
11 Prepare For Safe Operation T ractor And Mower Controls Safety T est Start the tractor following the speci c procedur es in the manufacturer’ s operator’ s manual. These procedures normally include: — Fasten and adjust seat belt on your ROPS-equipped tractor .
12 Prepare For Safe Operation Hitching Mower T o T ractor Three-point hitch-mounted mowers: — Refer to mower and tractor manufacturers’ manuals. — Place tractor’ s hydraulic power lift (r ockshaft) selector lever in down position to avoid unexpected movement.
13 Star t Safely Make The Right Start Mow only in daylight or good arti cial light conditions. Avoid serious injury or death fr om mower -thrown objects or blade contact: — Keep chain shields, exible or solid de ector shields or dischar ge chutes in place and in good repair .
14 Operate Safely Mower -Thr own Objects (continued) Disc Mowers — When using a disc mower it is important to know the area to be mowed. If the operator has mowed the eld before and is familiar .
15 Operate Safely Under Mount Mower Safety Practices When mowing with an under mount mower: — Keep removable dischar ge chute in place and over dischar ge opening. — Never stand on a mower housing when the tractor engine is operating. — Distribute grass clippings with discharge chute facing mowed area.
16 Operate Safely Wing And Side Mount Mowers Safety Practices Raised wing positions reduce shielding pr otection and increases the thr own object and blade contact hazard risks.
17 Uneven T errain Mowing Safety Practices (continued) — Use extreme care to maintain contr ol over the equipment when operating in these conditions. — Increase tractor stability by adding wheel weights, ballast and increasing wheel spacing to maximum.
18 Parking Safety Practices — Use designated or out-of-traf c areas. — Use rm level gr ound locations. — Set parking brake. — Lower raised equipment to ground. Shut down the mower and tractor using proper equipment shut down practice before dismounting tractor .
19 Shut Down Safely Dismounting Properly — Never dismount from moving equipment. — Never jump from any machines. — Dismount carefully . — Check for slippery steps. — Keep feet and hands away from controls. — Use handholds and steps during dismount.

21 Per for m Maintenance Safely Prepar e The Machine Stored ener gy sources (electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, chemical, thermal, etc.) must be controlled or reduced to a practical minimum befor e performing any maintenance, repair or service pr ocedures.
22 Per for m Maintenance Safely Per for m Maintenance Safely Use Proper V entilation If it is necessary to run an engine in an enclosed area, remove the exhaust fumes fr om the area with an exhaust pipe extension. If you do not have an exhaust pipe extension, make sure you open the doors and get outside air into the area.
23 Hydraulic System Hazards The hydraulic system is under pressur e whenever the engine is operating and may hold pressur e even after the engine is shut off. Cycle all hydraulic contr ols including the auxiliary hydraulic control after the engine is shut down.
24 Avoid Explosion WARNING! A void possible serious injury from explosion. Lead-acid batteries produce extr emely explosive gases especially when being char ged. Keep arcs, sparks, fl ames and lighted tobacco away . — Do not smoke near batteries. — Keep arcs, sparks and open ames away fr om batteries.

23 Riesgos del sistema hidráulico El sistema hidráulico se encuentra bajo presión siempr e que el motor está funcionando; puede conservar presión incluso después de apagar el motor . ASSEMBLY STEP 3. Open the woo den case from the shorter side and hoo k the machine to the chain hoist through the relative pin. Li ft and move slowly the chain hoist outwards in order to open the mower. STEP 4 Mount the shaft guard of the PTO s haft.
ASSEMBLY STEP 6 (this o peration shall be performed by two op erators). Lift th e three po i nt linkage a nd mount i t on t h e machine as shown in the Picture. An operator must keep the three point linkage in this position until th e safety release device is mounted.
ASSEMBLY STEP 9. Connec t the blade with the lever to the pin of the th ree point: insert the 1 st s him, the blade with the lever a nd then the 2 nd shim (Pic ture 9.1). Insert the 3 rd shi m (Picture 9.2), t he hydraulic cylinder (Picture 9.3), n° 2 washers an d lock with 1 spring plunger size=8x50 (Picture 9.

Mount the clutch support of the hyd raulic hose with 1 set hexagonal oval head screw M10x30 and one self -locking nut M 10. STEP 13 . OPER A TIO N A t taching to the Three Point Linkage of the Machine RHINO mowers can be attached to any kind of tractor equipped with universal th ree point linkage. The area sha ll be properly l ightened unde r conditions of reduced visibility. Nobody shall be within 5 m etres of hitching point.
OPER A TIO N Raise the stand and secure it using the pin. Stand shall always be attached to the machine . Slightly raise the machine and use lateral lifting arms to keep the machine level.
OPER A TIO N A s sembl y of the PTO Drive Shaft After attaching the machine to the t ractor, connect the PTO drive shaft to the power takeoff of the tractor (before performing this operation stop engine and remove the key). Before using the drive shaft read the use and maintenance manual of the drive shaft.
OPER A TIO N Use onl y dri ve shafts with all safe ty guards in go od conditions. The length of the drive shaft shall be adapted to the tractor. W HENEVER the drive shaft is disengaged from the power takeoff of the tractor place it on its support leg.
OPER A TIO N Hydraulic Sy stem Before connecting the h ydraulic c ouplings (quick couplings) to the distributors of the tractor st op engine and operate the distributors levels in both directio ns in order to make sure that the circuits of the tractor and the machine are not under pressure.
OPER A TIO N Adjustmen t Before operating the machine make the necessa ry adjustments. Correct adjustment of the machine ensures p roper operation of the machine, and helps improve pe rformance and reduce knives wear.
OPER A TIO N - To change windrow form move the rear adjustable wings. The mower is equipped with two windrow-formers. - Adjustment of c utting height is achieved by alte ring the forward tilting angle of the mower. In order to t ilt th e mower bar forward use the tractor three point linkage.
OPER A TIO N Operating Instruct i ons Before operation check the oil level in the gearbox a nd i f n ecessary add some oil (for th is operation follow instructions contained in par.
OPER A TIO N Make sure that the hydraulic tap is open and release the locking device of th e mower un it b y pulling the cable, which shall be positioned in the driver’s seat area. Lower the mowing unit with the aid of the distributor located on th e tractor.
OPER A TIO N Safety Release De vice If an obstacle is hit, the safety release device allows the cut ter bar to swing back, thus providing shock absorption. Stop engine and disengage power takeoff of the tractor. Before reinstalling the safety device reverse the tractor for 7ft.
OPER A TIO N Driveline A ttachm ent Adjusting Shaft Length 1. Sli de the two halves of the s haft apart and connect the halves to the tractor PTO s haft and th e mower input shaft. 2. Lay the shaft sections s ide-by-side. Mark the shield on the tra ctor end w he re i t meets t he shield cone on the m ower e nd.
OPER A TIO N 6. Check the angle of the joints at each end of the IID shaft when the mower is i n operating position. The maximum operating angle is 30 deg rees. OPERATION Failure to make these adjustments pri or to o perating the cutte r could re sult in premature IID shaft failure.
OPER A TIO N Pre-Operation Ins pecti on and Serv i ce Before each use, a pre-operation inspection and service of the implement and tractor must be performed. This includes routine maintenance and scheduled lubrication, inspecting that all safety devices are equipped and functional, and perfo rming needed repairs.

OPER A TIO N Foreign Debris Hazards Before mowing, inspect the area to make sure there are no foreign objects that the m ower blad es could h it or bec ome entangled with. Remove all foreign objects and debris. If o b jects are too big to remove, m ark them clearly and be sure to prevent the mower blades from contacting them.
OPER A TIO N Rotary Mowers are capable under adverse conditions of throwing objects fo r great dista nces (300 feet or more) a nd causing s erious injury or death.
OPER A TIO N PTO RPM and Ground Speed Ground speed for mowing will de pend upon the height, type, an d density of vegetation to be cu t. Recommended speed for e fficient mower performance is between 2 and 5 mph(3-8 k ph). Operate the mo wer at it s full rated PTO speed to maintain blade speed for a c lean cut.
OPER A TIO N Mower input rotation speed mus t be about 5 40revs/minute. If t he bar is working for long periods on sloping ground, it is recommended to hold the mower in the horizon tal position for a few minutes every half hour of work. Shutting Down the Implement To shut do wn attached m ower he ad, first bring the tractor to a complete stop.

The tractor must be equipped with all required safety warning features i ncluding a SMV e mblem and flashing warnin g lights to alert drivers of the tractor’s p resence.
OPER A TIO N W hen operating on public roads, have consideration for o ther road users. Pull to th e side of the road occasionall y to allow all following traffic to pass. Do not exceed the legal speed lim it set in your country for agricultural tractors.

M A INTEN A NC E Disc Replacement Reinstalling Disc Assemblies: Disc should be installed on the spline shaft as shown in Image Mnt-D-0002 for different model. The cutting edges of the blade should face the disc rotation direction. Blades are reversible.
M A INTEN A NC E Lubrication of Mechanical Comp onents Before operation and ever y 8 ho urs of w ork, lubricate all b earings, pins and the telescopic rod of the PT O joint using quality grease. W hen the mow er is not used for a longer period, clean and grease the drive shaft.
M A INTEN A NC E Remove the vent p lug (A) shown in the pi cture, the oil le vel must be with line on the dipstick. If it is below line on the dipst ick add oil.
M A INTEN A NC E Drive Belts Drive belts must be properly tensioned at all times to avoi d ex c essive fl opping and slipping. New belts If belts are new check tightness of the belt at least after 2 hours of work . Used belts If belts have been used for more than 24 hours, check belts wear and if necessary retighten them.
M A INTEN A NC E Belt tension check To check belts’ state of tension is necessary to check the compression level of the spring. When spring’s length is 1-1.5cm over the pack length, it’s necessary to re-adjust bel t’s tension. MAINTENANCE Belt replacement Never replace one belt only.
M A INTEN A NC E Curtain Replacem ent Before an y o peration check wear on the curtain and on the attaching devices. Replace worn curtain. Use exclusivel y c urtains supplied by RHINO . In order to remove the damaged curtain, loosen the belts connected to the frame of the cutter unit after raising the front part of the frame of the cutter unit.
