TUNER AND CHANNEL LIST 29 T uner Band 4 - T uner & Channel List Broadcast television comes into your home in one of two ways: over the air via antenna, or through a cable via a local CA TV (Community Antenna T elevision) provider or Satel- lite. The T uner Band setting allows you to specify which source you are using.

Select “T uner & Channel List” Press 3. Select “Remove Channel” Press the down arrow until Remove Channel is selected.
TUNER AND CHANNEL LIST 33 Show W eak Channels 1 2 3 When you run Auto Channel Search, it will skip channels with weak signals, i.e. poor picture quality . With Show W eak Channels, you can add more channels to your list by lowering the cut-off point at which a picture is acceptable to view .

COPY FEA TURES 35 5 - Copy Features Basic Copying T o copy a tape, simply put your source tape in Deck 1, your blank tape in Deck 2, and press Copy T ape. The tape in Deck 1 will begin copying to Deck 2. 1 2 3 Insert Source T ape Put the tape you wish to copy in Deck 1 on the left side of the VCR.
36 DDV 9150 USER ’ S GUIDE EZ Copy EZ-Copy automates the entire copy process so you can copy an entire tape at the touch of a button. Just press the Copy T ape button, and the VCR will rewind both decks completely , copy the source tape to the target tape, rewind both decks again, and eject the tapes.
COPY FEA TURES 37 Copy Mode There are two methods of copying a tape from Deck 1 to Deck 2: HQ1 (High Quality 1) and HQ2 (High Quality 2). HQ1 is best if your source tape is recorded in SP . HQ2 is best if your source tape is recorded in LP or SLP . The Auto setting will make this choice for you.
38 DDV 9150 USER ’ S GUIDE Speed Matching Speed Matching automatically sets the Deck 2 record speed to be the same as the Deck 1 playback speed when copying a tape. Y ou will typically get the best results with this feature turned on. Y ou must disable this feature to copy multiple movies onto a single blank tape.
COPY FEA TURES 39 Copy Audio Insert Y ou can insert a new audio track, such as music or voice- overs, while you are copying a tape. 1 2 3 Open “Setup Menu” Press and hold the Menu button for 3 seconds.

PLA YBACK FEA TURES 41 6 - Playback Features Basic Playback T o play a videotape, simply insert it in either deck and press the Play button. 1 2 Insert T ape Insert a standard VHS tape into Deck 1 or Deck 2. Play T ape Press Play on the remote control or the front panel.
42 DDV 9150 USER ’ S GUIDE Special Playback Features While a tape is playing, you can enjoy a variety of special playback features, including Freeze, Scan, Skip, Slow Motion, and more. Press the Play button again to resume normal playback. Freeze Frame From Play mode, press Play/Still to freeze a single frame.
PLA YBACK FEA TURES 43 DECK1 DECK2 MENU 0 0 0 0 9 A / ¥ E N T E R Review From Play mode, press Rewind to review at two speeds: • Picture Search — Press and release Rewind to review the tape at 5 times normal speed. • Jet Search — Press and hold Rewind to review the tape at 7 times normal speed.
44 DDV 9150 USER ’ S GUIDE T racking Adjusting the T racking removes the lines that sometimes appear during playback because of slight differences in recording decks. Y our Dual- Deck VCR will automatically align the recorded tracks with the playback heads to solve this problem.
PLA YBACK FEA TURES 45 Sequential/Loop Playback Y ou can insert two tapes in your Dual-Deck VCR and have them play sequentially or in a continuous loop. For example, you may rent a movie that comes on two videotapes and watch them seamlessly one after the other .

RECORDING FEA TURES 47 7 - Recording Features Basic Recording Y ou can record your favorite TV shows at the touch of the Record button. Be sure your videotape has a Record Safety T ab. If it is missing, you can cover the opening with a small piece of tape.
48 DDV 9150 USER ’ S GUIDE Recording Options While a recording is in progress, you can watch a different channel, watch a videotape in the other deck, or add recording time in 30- minute increments. T o Stop Recording... Press Stop. T o Pause Recording.
RECORDING FEA TURES 49 One-T ouch Recording (OTR) OTR allows you to add recording time in 30-minute increments at the touch of a button. 1 2 Start Recording Follow the instructions on page 47. Activate OTR While in Record mode, press Record again to activate One-T ouch Recording.
50 DDV 9150 USER ’ S GUIDE Record Speed Y ou can adjust the speed at which your Dual-Deck VCR records, e.g. to fit more than 2 hours of programming on a T -120 tape. 1 2 Start Recording Follow the instructions on page 47. Set Record Speed Press the SP/SLP button on the remote control to switch the record speed between: • SP — Standard Play .

52 DDV 9150 USER ’ S GUIDE Sequential/Loop Recording Y ou can insert two tapes in your Dual-Deck VCR and have them record sequentially or in a continuous loop. This will allow you to record up to 18 hours of programming in SLP mode. Loop recording is useful for continuous recording of security cameras.
RECORDING FEA TURES 53 Date/T ime Stamp The Date/T ime Stamp allows you to overlay the date, time, and record source at the start of, or continuously throughout, your recordings. Y ou can use the stamp on all recordings or on timer recordings only . The stamp will not appear , how- ever , when you copy a tape.

TIMER RECORDING 55 8 - T imer Recording How to Set a T imer Recording Sometimes you may wish to record a television show when you’re not home. Or you may want to create a library of your favorite TV shows. The T imer Recording Feature allows you to set up to 16 events at a time up to 1 year in advance.

Preview Commercials As you position your source tape, note how many minutes the commercials are that you wish to cut. Start Sync Edit Press Copy T ape to begin copying the source tape from Deck 1 to Deck 2.

70 DDV 9150 USER ’ S GUIDE Placing Index Marks Automatic Index Marks Index Marks are placed automatically whenever you start recording. This includes normal recording, OTR (One T ouch Recording), timer recording, copying, or sync editing.
SEARCH / INDEX FEA TURES 71 Index Scan Index Scan will fast-forward or rewind to the nearest Index Mark, play a few seconds of tape, and then fast-forward or rewind to the next Index Mark. When you find the show you want to watch, press Play . Use this feature with the Date/T ime Stamp to quickly find T imer Recordings on your tapes.
72 DDV 9150 USER ’ S GUIDE Index Search Index Search will fast-forward or rewind a specific number of Index Marks from 1 to 99. When it reaches the desired Index Mark, it will play the tape. Use Index Search when you know the exact Index Mark you want to locate.
SEARCH / INDEX FEA TURES 73 Blank Search Y ou can automatically find the next blank space of your videotape with Blank Search. This is useful when a video- tape has been used but still has open space left for recording. 1 2 Open “Search Menu” From Stop or Play mode, press Search/ Index.
74 DDV 9150 USER ’ S GUIDE Direct T ime Search Use Direct T ime Search to locate a specific tape location in hours, minutes, and seconds. This is especially useful when you have taken a careful inventory of the contents of your tape for editing—you can advance the tape directly to the beginning of the desired scene.
SEARCH / INDEX FEA TURES 75 Return to 0:00:00 Y ou can advance your video- tapes to tape counter position 0:00:00 at the touch of a button. This feature is useful when editing from a baseline counter value of 0:00:00. 1 2 Open “Search Menu” From Stop or Play mode, press Search/ Index.

ADV ANCED CONNECTIONS 77 1 1 - Advanced Connections Cable Box Hookup This chapter will show you how to connect external devices, such as a cable box, stereo, or satellite receiver , to your Dual-Deck VCR. 1 2 3 Connect Cable to Cable Box Connect an RF antenna cable from your cable wall outlet to the “In from Cable” jack on the Cable Box.
