Chapter 1 – System Housing 1-15 Installing and Removing a BPL3 Hard Disk Driv e Tray To remove and install a BPL3 Ha rd Disk Drive Tray: 1. Use your finger to release th e drive tray and then pull it out. 2. Place a hard disk on th e tray. Secure it with four screw s as show n below.

Chapter 2 – System Board 2-15 2.8 Installing a Pentium III Processor Follow these steps to install a Pentium III processor into the socket on the CPU board. The syste m sett ings a re conf igure d at t he factory for the correct CPU frequency/ Memory DIMM combination.

Chapter 2 – System Board 2-19 2.11 Memory Upgrade The fo ur 168-pin s ockets o nboard suppo rt Regist ered PC100 ECC SDRAM-ty pe DIMMs. Y ou may inst all 128 or 256-MB D IMMs for a m aximum of 1024 MB system memory. Each of the sockets represents one independent bank.
Altos 1100E Series User’s G uide 2-20 2.11.2 Installing a DIMM To install a DIMM , a lign it with the socket and press it down until the holding clips secure the D IMM in place. The DIMM socket is slotted to ensure proper installation. If you s lip in a DIMM but it does not completely fit, you may have ins erted it the wrong way.
Chapter 2 – System Board 2-21 2.11.3 Removing a DIMM To remove a DIMM, pr ess the holding clips on both sides of the socket outward to release th e DIMM. Place your forefingers on the top of the DIMM before you pres s the holding clips to gently disengage the DIMM from the socket.

It automatically enters into the sleep or the suspend mode after a specified period of inactivity. Any keyboard or mouse action, or any modem a ctivity detected (if the Modem Ring option is enabled - see section 3 .

When set to Enabled , BIOS is in graphica l mode and d isplays only an identifica tion logo during POST and while booting, after which the screen displays the operating system prompt (such as DOS) or logo (such as Wind ows 95).
