6 Putting the Set 830-TV into operation Putting the Set 830-TV into operation Setting up the transmitter 왘 Place the transmitter so that: – there are no obstacles in th e light path between trans- mitter and receiver and – transmitter and receiver ar e not exposed to direct sun- light.

10 Putting the Set 830-TV into operation Connecting the transmitter to the mains – If there is no audio signal fr om the sound source for about 3 minutes, the transmitter automatically switches off. The operation indicator 8 goes off. 왘 Select the suitable country adapter K for your wall socket.
11 Using the Set 830-TV Using the Set 830-TV T o switch the Set 830-TV syst em on, proceed as follows: 1. Switch your sound source (e.g. TV) on. The transmitter automatically switches on (see next chapter). 2. Put the stethoset receiver on. The receiver automatically switches on (see page 12).
12 Using the Set 830-TV Switching the receiver on/off Switching the receiver off 왘 T ake the receiver off. The receiver automatically switches off af ter 30 seconds. Hearing damage due to high volumes! This receiver allows you to set higher vol- umes than conventio nal headphones.

14 Using the Set 830-TV Switching between mono and stereo operation If, despite a correct balance adjustment, you can hear the sound only with one ear: Meaning of the terms “mono” and “stereo” 왘 Set the ST/MO switch B on the transmitter to MO (mono).
15 Using the Set 830-TV Individually enhancing the speech intelligibility 왘 Press the “speech intelligibility” button 9 until the sound is optimally adju sted to your needs. If necessary, you can have th e speech intelligibility fine adjusted to your hearin g ability (see page 23).
16 Using the Set 830-TV Storing and charging th e receiver Do not store the receiver on a glass dummy head, chair armrest, or similar for long periods of time as this can reduce the contact pressure of the earbows. Furthermore, with the earbows pulled ap art, the receiver remains switched on.
17 Using the Set 830-TV Charging a rechargeable battery in the transmitter’s charging compartment You can charge the receiver’s rechargeable battery or a spare BA 300 rechargeable battery (not included in the delivery of the Set 830-TV) in the charging compart- ment 5 at the side of the transmitter.

24 Additional technical information Compression (settings 1 and 3) Deteriorat ion of the abili ty to hear quiet sou nds as well a s loud ones is a typical symptom of old age. Co mpression compensates for these volume differences by boosting the volume of quiet sounds and reducing the volume of loud sounds if necessary.
25 Additional technical informati on Changing the operating mode The transmitter can be set to a different operating mode. This is useful when the sound of your sound source is very low and the transmitter therefore does not alwa ys switch on automati cally.
