7 ENG D20015 Rev . 1 6/28/00 Air Compressor Pump: T o compress air , the piston moves up and down in the cylinder . On the downstroke, air is drawn in through the air intake valves. The exhaust valves remain closed. On the upstroke of the piston, air is compressed.
8 ENG D20015 Rev . 1 6/28/00 Location of the Air Compressor Locate the air compressor in a clean, dry and well venti- lated area. The air filter must be kept clear of obstruc- tions which could reduce air delivery of the air compres- sor .
9 ENG D20015 Rev . 1 6/28/00 This procedure is required only once, before the air com- pressor is put into service. 1 . Set the pressure switch "AUTO/O" lever in the "O" position for "Off". 2 . Plug the power cord into the correct branch circuit receptacle.
10 ENG D20015 Rev . 1 6/28/00 Keep the air filter clean at all times. Do not operate the com- pressor with the air filter removed. A dirty air filter will not allow the compressor to operate at full capacity . Before you use the compressor , check the air filter to be sure it is clean.
11 ENG D20015 Rev . 1 6/28/00 PROBLEM CAUSE Excessive tank pressure - safety valve pops off. Air leaks at fittings or hose. Air leaks at pressure switch release valve. Air leaks in air tank or at air tank welds. Air leaks between head and valve plate.
