6 FIGURE 2 FIGURE 3 • T ur n the spreader upside down as sho wn in gure 1. • Remov e the lock n ut from the middle bolt in the crossov er tube and shaft suppor t plate. Lea ve the bolt in place. See gure 1. • Assemble the hitch tube onto the middle bolt and secure it with the same lock n ut you remov ed.
7 • T ur n the spreader upright on its wheels. • Assemble the o w control mounting tube to the hitch tube using two 5/16" x 1-3/4" he x bolts and 5/16" nyloc k he x nuts. DO NO T TIGHTEN YET . See gure 5. • Assemble the vin yl cap onto the ow control mounting tube.
8 • Hook the double bent end of the o w control rod through the hole in the slide gate brac ket located near the bottom of the hopper . See gure 10. • Assemble the o w control ar m to the o w control mounting brac ket using a 1/4" x 1" he x bolt, two n ylon washers and a 1/4" n ylock he x nut.
9 • F or most vehicles , assemble the hitch e xtension brac ket to the holes in the hitch tube sho wn at the top of gure 16. Use two 1/4" x 1-3/4" he x bolts and 1/4" nyloc k he x nuts tightened only nger tight. Attach the spreader hitch to your v ehicle hitch.
10 OPERA TION KNO W Y OUR SPREADER Read this owner's manual and saf ety rules before operating y our spreader . Compare the illustration below with y our spreader to f amiliarize yourself with the v arious controls and their locations. FLO W CONTROL ARM - Opens and closes the closure plate in the bottom of the hopper .
11 OPERA TING TIPS W e do not recommend the use of any powdered la wn chemicals, due to difculty in obtaining a satisf actor y or consistent broadcast pattern. • Determine approximate square f ootage of area to be cov ered and estimate amount of material required.
12 CHECK FOR LOOSE F ASTENERS • Bef ore each use make a thorough visual chec k of the spreader f or any bolts and nuts which ma y ha ve loosened. Retighten any loose bolts and nuts . CHECK FOR W ORN OF D AMA GED P ARTS • Check f or wor n or damaged par ts bef ore each use.
