8 4. Introduction 4. 1. Presentation The Ethernet card (catalog number VW3A3310d) is used to connect an Altivar 61 / 71 drive to an Ethernet network using the Modbu s TCP/IP protocol and Transpar ent Ready services. The VW3A3310d card is eq uipped with two shielded RJ45 Ethernet c onnectors.
9 5. Hardware setup 5. 1. Receipt • Check that the card catalog number marke d on the label is th e same as that on the deliv ery note corresponding to the purc hase order. • Remove the option card from its packaging and check that it has not been damaged in transit.
10 6. Connecting to the Ethernet network 6. 1. Card RJ45 connector pinout The Ethernet card is equipped with a shielded RJ45 co nnector. The shielding is connected t o the drive ground. Use STP (shielded twisted pair) Ethernet cable. The transmission speed is detected automatical ly by the card (10 Mbps or 100 Mbps) .

Configuring IP addresses b Assigning IP add resses The drive needs 3 IP addresses: • The drive IP ad dress. • The subnet mask. • The gateway IP address (not always required). Note : Some controller s, such as Prosoft ® and De ltaV ® modules, require a Modbus address to be set in additi on to the IP address.

19 8. Configuration 8. 3. Reserving control It is strongly recommended that control s hould be reserved for a single master devic e. If control were not to be reserved for a master device (f or example a PLC): • Any other Modbus TCP Ethernet client could send unwanted commands.

21 8. Configuration b Control via Etherne t in CiA402 (Drivecom) pro file The command and setpoint co me from Ethernet. The command is in CiA402 profile. Note : The term Drivecom has been in use since 1991. Recently, the term has changed to DSP402, and curr ently is CiA402.

26 9. Diagnostics 9. 1. Signalling LEDs The VW3A3310d Ethernet card features 5 LEDs, which are visible through the Altivar 61 / 71 cover. The first 2 LEDS ar e respectively dedicate d to each Ethernet port. The third LED is relative to the IP level. The last 2 LEDs are s pecific to EtherNet/I P and CIP communication prot ocol.

40 12. IO Scanning service 12. 1. Presentation The IO Scanning service is used to exchange periodic I/O data between: • A controller or PLC (IO Scanner). • Devices (IO Scanning servers). This exchange is usually performed by implicit services, thus avoiding the need to program the contro ller (PLC).
41 12. IO Scanning service The values of the periodic variables are listed in a table. This table can be accesse d in read-only mode by t he Ethernet card Modbus server (Unit I D = 251). 12. 3. Address ta ble The periodic variables are defined in the address table.
42 13. FDR service 13. 1. Presentation The Faulty Device Replacement (FDR) service is used to simplify the maintenance or repla cement of drives connected on the Ether net network. Not all PLCs and contr ol system devices are able t o use t he FDR servic e.
43 13. FDR service 13. 2. Local configuration If the drive parameter configuration is loca l, the FDR server only assigns t he IP addresses: • Card IP address. • Subnet mask. • Gateway IP address. On connection to the network, the drive automatically saves its par ameters in the FDR ser ver.

48 14. St andard web server 14. 2. Applets The web server downloads Java pr ograms called “applets” to your computer. These applets communicate with the drive us ing Modbus services (on port 502), thus establishing o ne or more conn ections between the computer and the drive.

52 14. St andard web server 14. 9. “Data Viewer” pa ge This page is used to display the drive parameters and modify their values. The parameters are arranged in groups, and consistent with the keyp ad and user manuals The display mode for each value depends on the nature of the parameter.

63 15. FTP server b Access The Ethernet card has a structured FTP server which is used to: • Access the embedded web server resource files. • Store the FDR (Faulty Device Replacement) serv ice configuration files. Access to the FTP server is restricted.
64 15. FTP server b Functions The table below describes t he functions available: b File system The FTP server “fdr” directory is fixed. The RD (remove directory) command therefore has no effect on this director y. However, the whole “html” directory can be modifi ed using the MD (make directory) and RD commands.
65 16. Downloading from the web server b Principle The Ethernet card has an embedded FTP server which authorizes ac cess to the vari ous URLs available for t he HTTP server. A bro ws er such as Internet Explorer can be used to display the URLs like a disk in the Windo ws explorer.
66 16. Downloading from the web server Each URL in the HTTP server is stored in t he file table. As a result, the user can easily change the standar d web server by add i ng, deleting or modifying the URL files. However, some URLs are required and/or cannot be modified.

69 17. SNMP agent b Objects handled The SysContact, SysName and Sys Location objects can be modified by the user. The values writte n are saved to the Ethernet card via an SNMP client not supplied with the VW3A3310d Ethernet card. The size of these c haracter strings is limited to 50 characters.
