6 R Section 2 Tie the mow er down securely using the tie do wn 21. points located on the front and rear of the machine. See Figure 2-2 and 2-3. Secure using straps, chains, cable , or ropes. Both front and rear straps must be directed down and outw ard from machine.

15 R Section 4 T o disengage the deck drive, push the s witch in to 3. the disengage position. Alwa ys operate the engine at full throttle to properly 4. maintain cutting speed. If the engine star ts to lug down, reduce the f orward speed and allow the engine to operate at maximum RPM.
16 R Section 4 If the discharge chute becomes clogged, shut off 1. the engine and remov e the ignition key . Using a stick or similar item, dislodge the clogged material.

20 R Section 6 P ARKING BRAKE ADJUSTMENT 6.1 W ARNING DO NO T operate the mower if the parking brake is not operab le. P ossible severe injur y could result. The par king brake linkage should be adjusted whene ver the parking brak e lev er is placed in the “ENGA GE” position and the parking brak e will allow the mo wer to move .
21 R Section 6 NEUTRAL ADJUSTMENT -NO TE- Neutral has been set by your Scag dealer at the time of set up and nor mally does not need to be adjusted. If , ho we ver , you find that the neutral has come out of adjustment, f ollow the procedure below . Be sure the dump v alves are in the run position and 1.
22 R Section 6 -NO TE- Bef ore proceeding with this adjustment, be sure that the caster wheels tur n freely and that the tire pressure in the dr iv e wheels is correct. If the tire pressure is not correct, the machine will pull to the side with the low er pressure.
23 R Section 6 CUTTER DECK LEVEL The cutter deck should be le vel from side-to-side f or proper cutting performance. T o chec k f or le vel, be sure that the mow er is on a flat, lev el surf ace, the tires are properly inflated and the cutter deck is set at the most common cutting height that y ou will use.

25 R Section 6 Rotate the cutter blade on the right side of the cutter 6. deck. P osition the cutter blade so it is f acing "front to back" on the machine . Check the measurement from the floor to the cutter 7. blade tip at the front and rear of the right side blade .

33 R Section 7 B. CHANGING HYDRA ULIC OIL The h ydraulic oil should be changed after ev er y 500 hours or annually , whiche v er occurs first. The oil should also be changed if the color of the fluid has become black or milky .
34 R Section 7 B. CHANGING ENGINE CRANKCASE OIL After the first 20 hours of operation, change the engine crankcase oil and replace the oil filter . Thereafter , change the engine crankcase oil after e ver y 100 hours of operation or monthly , whichev er occurs first.

FILLING THE FUEL T ANK Fill the fuel tank at the beginnin g of each opera ting da y . For EP A Phase 2 (produced pr ior to 1/1/2011) models, fill to within one (1) inch belo w the filler neck.
