29 English TURNING THE CAMERA ON AND OFF T urning on the camera 1 Open the monitor unit, and press the ON/OFF button for at least 1 second. h The camera turns on. h If the date and time ha ve not been set, t he screen to set the date and time is shown on the monitor (page 32).
English 30 SETUP T urning on the camera when t he powe r save (sleep) mo de is active In order to pr eserve battery pack po wer , the power sav e (sleep) function will automatically tur n off the camera after 1 minute of no use during shooting, or 5 minutes of no use during playbac k (factory-preset setting).

About the standby mode i T o tur n off th e camera only briefly , you can close the monitor unit to put the camera in the standb y mode.
English 32 SETUP D A TE AND TIME SETTING The camera will record the date and time an image or audio recording is taken so that y ou can disp la y them during pla yback. Theref ore, bef ore capturing images, mak e sure the correct date and time are set.

English 78 NORMAL/SHOO TING NORMAL SHOO TING NORMAL/SHOOTING RECORDING SIZE The image quality of video clips and still images is determined by the recording siz e (number of pix els). The larger the recording size , the better th e image quality will be, but the file siz e will also be larger .

87 English FLASH OPERA T ION The flash is used not only f or taking pict ures where there is insuffici ent light, but also when the subje ct is in shade or in backligh t conditions. 93 English FOCUS RANGE 1 Display the NORMAL Mode Shooting Menu (page 37), select “FOCUS”, and press the SET button. h When shooting a subject at a medium to f ar distance, by setting the focus range to * , y ou will find it both easier and fast er to focus .
