English 2 Introduction The D VR Utility Softw a re prov ides a network-based remote monitoring system by connecting your computer(s) with digital video recorders (D VRs ).
3 English Netw ork Configuration b Netw ork Device Configura t ion With the D V R Utili t y Software, you create a monitoring system that consists of D VRs, moni t oring cameras, and one or more computers that act as re mote controllers, all of which are connected via a dedicated independent netw or k.

5 English Netw ork Connection Requirements Before using t he D V R Util it y Softw are, configure the D VRs and computers for network connectivity as instructed in the f ollowing sections. ● Configuring the DVRs Configure NETWORK SET by follo wing the instructions for IP address configuration giv en in the D VR’ s documentation.
English 6 Network Connection Requirements T o configure the TCP/ IP settings on each com puter , follo w t hese steps: 1 On the [ Control Panel], clic k [Netw ork and Internet Co nnections]. The [Network and Internet Connec tions] window appears. 2 Click [Netwo rk Co nnections].
7 English Install ing the Softw are The D VR Utility Software must be inst alled on each computer you want to connect to t he dedicated network. The Setup program that runs from the Installation CD guides y ou through the process of installation. 1 Insert th e Installation CD into the CD-ROM drive of the computer .
English 8 Installing the Softw are 5 The [Sel ect Progr a m Fol der] screen appears. Chec k th e pr ogram folder , and click [Next]. Norm ally y ou can accept the default fol d er without changing it . If you want to change the pr ogram f older , type the fol d er name into the bo x, or select an ex is ting f older from the list underneath.
9 English Setting Up the System Once you have completed the installation process, you should set up your monitoring system to make it up and r unning as outlined in t his s ection. This section simply descr ibes bas ic procedures; f o r more inf or mati on, see the descriptions given on the referenced pages.
English 10 Setting Up th e System If your s ystem uses additional computers (“Slav e” com puters) connected to the network in addition to the Master computer , be sure to configure the f ollowing initial settings bef ore letting end users use the system .
11 English Menus and User Access Levels The system uses four access lev els to authorize users. Users are a uthentic ated with passw ord s at login time.
English 12 Windo w Navigat ion When you have started the s oftware and logged into the system, you are first presented with the main window . The main w indow is where y ou watch video during routine monitoring work and, in addition, it allo ws you to na v igate t o other windo ws wher e y ou can control or configure various aspects of the system.
13 English Star ting and Ending a Monitoring Session T o start a monitoring session with the system, you hav e to start the D VR Utility Software and log into the system.
English 14 Starting and Ending a Monitoring Session b Logging Int o the System When the software has successfully started up, you are presented with the Login window . Enter your user name ( 1 ) and password ( 2 ), then click ( 3 ) or hit the [Enter] k ey .

English 34 W atching Live Video b Zoom Mode When you s w itch to z oom mode, the displa yed video can be enlarged centering on a specified point on the view . This f eat ure works in pl ayback mode as well. 1 Click ( 1 ) o n the contr ol panel. The button turns red to indicate that you are now in z oom-in mode.
35 English W atching Live Video b Full Screen Mode When you switch to Full Screen m ode, the currently display ed video is maximized to c ov er the whole screen with all other user-in terf ace elements, including the menu bar, c ontrol panel, and tree list, hidden from the screen.
English 36 W atching Live Video b Sequential Sw i tc hing Mode When you are connected to a 4-c hannel D VR, you c an use Sequential Switching mode to mo nitor in tur n each of the cameras connected to the four channels. 1 View the l i ve video as usual.
37 English Recording Monitored Video Liv e video streamed from a monitored c amera can be recorded int o the D VR’ s inter nal hard disk. • Y ou can choose f rom three recording modes: manual, timer , and alarm. • The recording mechanism works on the entire D V R.

English 44 Searc hing for Recor ded Video (Required user access le vel: ID2/3/4) b TIME/D A TE SEARCH In this search mode, you can search for , and play back, video files that match your spe cified date and time criteria. This mode suppor ts all recorded video files (all recording modes).
45 English Searc hing for Recor ded Video (Required user access le vel: ID2/3/4) b ALARM SEARCH The alarm search feature searches f or alarm ev ent s , and displa ys the search results in the [Alarm Search] window as either an alarm list or thumbnail vie w , allowing y ou to select an alarm ev ent and play bac k the associated video f ile(s).

The alar m list displays , in the rev erse-chronologica l order , alarm ev ents that correspond to the channel currently selected on the tree li st. 2 On the alarm list, clic k th e alarm event whose associated video you want to play back.

Initially , the thumbnails in the thumb nail view are b lank with their title bars indicating the time/date and c hannel number inf or mation only .
English 48 Do wnloadin g Recor ded Vid eo Video files recorded in D V Rs can be do wnloaded to computers. • When you download r ecorded video , you define the download range by specifying it s start and end points.
49 English Dow n loading Re corded Video b Specifying the Video Do wnload Range Before you downl o ad recorded video, y ou must define the download range by using the time scale panel on the m ain window and specifying the star t and end points of the range.
English 50 Downloading Recor ded Video 3 Once you have determined the start p oint, clic k [ ST ART POINT] ( 2 ). The download star t point is estab lished at the position where the playback point was.
51 English Dow n loading Re corded Video 6 T o pr eview the vi deo include d in the download ra nge: Y ou can play back the video files included in the download r ange f rom the star t point onw ard by click ing [PREVIEW] ( 4 ) on the panel. In this mode, you can use t he same playbac k controls as in pla yback mode.

English 54 Downloading Recor ded Video Once you are ready for download, use one of the fo llowing two options. If you want to specify a video file and download it i m mediately rather than adding it to the download list for batch-download, click ( 3 ).
55 English Dow n loading Re corded Video b Adding Video Files to the Downloa d List f or Batch Down l oad By clicking t he [ Add] b utton among the basic controls, you can add up to 20 video files to the “download list”. The f iles cont ained in t he download list can be later batch-do w nloaded.
English 56 Downloading Recor ded Video b Play i ng Back Downloaded Video Files When you want to play bac k downloaded video files, specify your desired video files on the [Pla y List]. Y o u can pla y back multiple video files in succession. 1 Click [FILE] on the contr ol panel while y ou are w orking in th e main windo w.
57 English Dow n loading Re corded Video 3 Choose a f o lder . Click on a folder in the folder list ( the lef t pane). The files contained in y our selected f older are displayed in the av ailable files list (the upper half of the right pane), to which your selected view mode (either GROUP or EXP A ND) is applied.
English 58 Downloading Recor ded Video ☞ T o remove a fi le fr om th e pla y waiting l ist: On the pla y waiting list, select a f ile you want t o rem ov e, and then click ( 2 ).

Click ei ther of the fol lowing two b uttons: • : This button opens the [Save As] dialog, and you can sav e t he image as a JPEG file by specifying the f older and file name.
61 English Using the T ool Men u Op tions The “T ool” menu provides various options that allow you to use the D VR Ut ilit y Software more eff ect iv ely and productively . T o ac cess these options, click [T ool] on the menu bar to open the pull-down menu, and then selec t your desired option.
English 62 Using the T ool Menu Options 1 SCHEDULE Specify the date of the w e ek and the time at which to s tart the download. The date and time specified here are applied as common settings to this window . • T o specify the date of week to schedule the download: F rom the [WEEK] drop- down list, select SUN, MON, TUE, WED , THU , FRI, or SA T .
63 English Using the T ool Menu Options G ST A TUS Displays the lat est download res ults or current status. • OK: Download successful • NG: Download fa iled • DL: Download in progress • –: Download scheduled b u t not started Clicking [ST A TUS] displays the “download log” that contains the history of downloads.
English 64 Using the T ool Menu Options T o c onfigure a timer download, follow these steps: 1 Choose a D VR. On the tree list, c lic k the camera title of the camera connect ed to your desired D VR. The title is highlighted in blue, and the title of the D VR t o which the camera is connected appears in all rows i n the [D VR NAME ] section.

English 90 Initial Set Me nu (Required user access level: ID4) T o register a new user , c onfigure the u ser ID , pas s word, and use r access le vel through the f ollowi ng steps: 1 Enter the us er I D into the [USER ID] bo x. Enter the user name (user ID) that is used to identify the user on t he network.
91 English Initial Set Men u (Required user access level: ID4) Y ou can change the user ID , pass word, or us er access lev el of an existing user . T o do so , follow these steps: 1 Choose a user . On the user registration list, select the user whose inf or mation you w ant to change.

On the user registration list, select the user you w ant to deregister . The selected user is highlighted in blue, and t he user’ s registration inf or mation appears.

English 96 D VR Management Menu (R equired user access l evel: ID4) b [System Update] Wi ndow Y ou can update the firmware of your spec ified DV R through the follo w ing steps: 1 Choose a camera (D VR ). F rom the tree list, select a camera connected to t he D VR whose fir mware you w ant to update.
97 English D VR Management Menu (Required user access level: ID4) b [D VR Info] Window This window consists of t wo t abs that displa y the inf or mation on the target D VR’ s configurations and hard disk status. Also , the window provides a command that initializes the hard disk( s).
English 98 D VR Management Menu (R equired user access l evel: ID4) <D VR information> 1 TITLE o n DVR Camera titles configured on the D VR main unit or on the TITLE/MOTION SET tab of the [D VR Set] window ( f or a 4-channel DV R ) .
